Bomber. The color of a clean penny with a perfect white head. Nose is very juicy, some wet grass. Very interesting hop characteristics. Similar flavor profile with a musty, bitter finish. Long, slightly abrasive finish. A great IPA.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Suttree (4498) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Cloudy orange, huge white head. Lots of citrus in the aroma. Lots of grapefruit and caramel in the flavor. Doesn’t re-invent the wheel, doesn’t need to. Simple, tasty IPA. Bonus appearance point for the cool label...

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured clear dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex hop and soft malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Good brew.

22 oz. bottle shared by Jason - thanks again! Bottled March 2, 2013. Pours a semi-cloudy tea-amber color with a small off-white head, basically a film and ring. Aroma of caramel malts, cream, brown sugar, and cereal, with only the faintest hop character. Flavor of caramel malts, honey, and tropical fruits. Light-medium bodied, with a sweet, resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Malty IPA. Not for hopheads.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 DrSilverworm (2970) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 10, 2013
Sample from a 22oz bottle, shared by brew3crew. Musty aroma, caramel malts. Medium body. Smoother, light carbonation, slightly creamy. Clear amber color, thin white head, little dots of lace. Sweeter taste. Light on the bitter. Not cloyingly sweet, though. Alright IPA. Not assertive at all. More on the malty sweet side, but it doesn’t ruin the beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 b3shine (2460) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 10, 2013
Bomber to taster (thanks brew3crew). Looks solid; malty though. A mostly transparent dark orange with white lacing. Smells and tastes more malty than hoppy with an average mouthfeel. Not enough hops.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2013 Bottle. Pours a mostly clear light amber color with a moderate white head. Nose is quite light, but has subtle floral elements with a decent malt backbone. Taste is slightly bitter, with a good bit of balance to the beer. Easy drink, but not high on my list of IPAs.

I was excited to see Surfin’ Buddha on tap at some of the local bars here in the triangle. I enjoy a good solid IPA with all the hoppiness that a craft beer provides, and by far Starpoint’s IPA is my favorite. A smooth and balanced IPA that needs to be experienced-I am no wordsmith so I recommend trying it out if you haven’t already.

Orange colored pour with small white head and decent lacing. Very little aroma at all, just a hint of malts and citrus. Flavor was heavy on the malts, hop character did not shine through at all. Mouthfeel was extremely thin and watery and undercarbonated. Tasted like flat homebrew to be honest.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 emacgee (3506) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - SEP 21, 2012
Soft dark amber pour with a thin off white head. My sample has very little on the aromatic end. Some muted malt character, bready notes with a light sweetness and grass from the hops. Light astringency in the flavor, bready notes come through. Still not much hop character besides the tactile aspects. Light medium body and dry finish with a lasting bitterness.
