Bottle. The pour was a very dark brown almost black with a large (2-3 finger) rocky tan head that was mostly diminishing and produced excellent lacing that was left sticking to the glass throughout. The aroma was of a dark bread malt and a musty leathery yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee, nutmeg, pumpkin and a bit of cinnamon. The taste was lightly bitter and malty with a hint of roasted coffee at first then slowly acquired a mild chocolate presence with a touch of pumpkin and nutmeg that progressed into a mild bitter finish. The flavor lasted only a short while after the swallow which slightly affected the overall taste experience. Mouthfeel was just a tad under medium in body and creamy yet a little dry in texture with a nice soft carbonation. Overall a decent robust Porter with a very nice aroma. Although there was more pumpkin and spices in the aroma than there was in the flavor.

This is a weak pumpkin beer. There really isn’t much positive to say about this one. Very average

OK, I really want to like this beer. Its from Virginia, it looks great, it pours great, but it just isn’t as delicious as the aroma and appearance indicate. While the front end of the taste is pleasant with decent balance between roasted malt, spices, a hint of pumpkin, and hop flavors, this quickly fades and falls into a flat mid-palate and a mediocre or unpleasant aftertaste.

I remember this beer being better a few years back. Has some good flavors but has a finish that reminds me of mass produced craft beer (I call it the saranac taste)

Atlanta, Ga. - Hop City - 12 oz bottl. Dark copper pour, light off-white head. Strong spicy aroma with clove and allspice. Spicy flavor with some pumpkin spice, cloves and some ripening vegetable notes cloves. Thick enough mouthfeel. Decent.

Big fluffy tan head on a cola brown beer. Bad label. Standard 12 oz longneck. Allspice aroma over dark malt. Dry, tangy, coffee, spicy. Slightly roasted, some meaty notes. Loses carbonation. Didn’t love this one. Thanks to PorterPounder.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep red, almost black. No head. Aroma is spicy and chocolatey. Flavors are rich and complex. A little too much tang to the finish that detracts.

Poured a deep brown with a light brown head which disappeared quickly......aroma of nutmeg.....taste is the smokey porter overpowering most else, with a slight touch of the spices, especially nutmeg coming through.

Transfer from BA review on 9-11-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Poured a deeper brown color with a big tan head. The head had decent retention fading over time to give only a lighter amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heavy of a sweet pumpkin smell. Mixed with the pumpkin is the presence of some chocolate, roasted malt and a little bit of nutmeg and allspice. Taste – The taste begins of roasted malt with a light hint of chocolate. A big pumpkin flavor hits the tongue immediately after the initial taste. It doesn’t combine with the roasted and chocolate flavors very well and when mixed with a light spice of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice the flavors really don’t meld. In the end a somewhat rotten roasted pumpkin flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer was on the thinner side with a carbonation level that was rather average. Overall – A beer I certainly won’t go to again. The flavors had no compatibility/melding in this brew and resulted it too off a flavor.

Rated from notes taken 15 Sep 2011 -- Porter kinda dominates any pumpkin flavor. The pumpkin parts are too subtle in my opinion.

Bottle. Dark cola pour with some mocha head. Burnt soy sauce, licorice, dark roast, caramel, tire, pumpkin and spice. The aroma is a bit too much for me. Good carbonation in a medium and creamy body.
