Pours a dark cola brown with a quickly-dissipating tan head. Aroma is light, sweet and malty. Flavor is quite spicy. Sweet cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Not quite as strong upon the swallow but still pretty decent.

Dark brown. Tan head. Aroma of pumpkin pie spice, roast, lactose, and cloves are heavily noticeable. Flavor has clove, spice, pumpkin, roast, lactose and a lightly tart note.

I was excited to try a pumpkin porter, because I really am not a fan of traditional pumpkin ales and I thought this approach might offer more depth and character. Unfortunately, I found the beer watery and thin, the spices didnít taste real, and I missed the punch of hops to get the fruit of the pumpkin across to me.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA. Cola-like brown pour with a frothy khaki head. Aroma of light floral hops, chocolate, and a trace of pumpkin pie spice. Pumpkin really barely appears to be present in the flavor. Mostly smoky malts, coffee, and dark chocolate are tasted but there is a slight sharpness from the pumpkin that I do detect. A decent beer.

Deep, rich malt comes out first in the aroma, chocolatey, roasted, complimented by the pumpkin, and a little bit of hop with a hint of mint. Light has a difficult time getting through the dark brown body, but it cracks clear red-orange to gold at the edges when held at an angle. I managed to get a pretty good tan head out of it, but less retention than I would have liked, and no lace. The flavor is understated at the front, but it does a bit of a dance in the middle. It drops off in the back end, leaving a bitter aftertaste that fades to sweet. Itís got a full almost creamy body with a good deal of carbonation. Itís unique among pumpkin beers, and commendable for that. I like most of the pieces, but somehow they just donít add up, and leave something to be desired.

Tap. Pours clear dark brown to black - mahogany, with a small brown head no lacing. Aroma is strong cloves, allspice, nutmeg and a bit of dark roasted malt. Flavor is the same, very spicy with notes of coffee. Lightly sweet, lightly citric astringent. Fairly light body. Did not come together well for me.

12oz bottle, thanks to Andrew. Bottled 8/10/12. Thin lighter brown head. Dark brown but clear color. Some dots of lace. Very nice pumpkin taste, works well with the standard porter flavors, much more interesting than your standard pumpkin ale. Great smooth carbonation, dry finish. Awesome toasty malty pumpkin aftertaste. Nice light bitter and sweet taste. Good stuff for sure, interesting beer

Great aroma; excellent blend of roasty porter malt and pumpkin pie spices. Very dark brown, creamy looking, though little head fades quickly. Flavor is a sweet rendition of porter with a nice touch of pumpkin and spice in the background. Could use some balance. Good mouthfeel, though a touch watery for the style. Overall, a nice experience - my first time trying this style, and Iíll seek out others that might be more full bodied and balanced.

Poured a blackish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is a very faint spice, nutmeg, and coffee. Taste is about the same as the smell with a slightly off putting taste I canít quite put a finger on. Overall I think I like pumpkin ales and I like porters but this mix did neither justice.

Dark brown in color... Aroma of spice and dark malts... Flavor is roasted malts, caramel, notes of pumpkin and spice... Fairly mellow and subdued pumpkin, but noticeable... Not bad
