750 from Capone’s. Pours thick deep black with 1-finger tan head. Nose is roasty choc malt, hops, black licorice, blackberry, some tartness. Tastes rich, dark roasty malty, somewhat charred, flora, hoppy, with notes of anise, cacao, blackberry, and florals. Very complex and pretty dry and hoppy, this one is enjoyable.

Sampled at Big Brew Beer Festival (Morristown). Pours pitch black with a small dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, and a hint of coffee. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, burnt toast, and caramel.

Poured at World of Beer, tulip glass. Nice short tan head, color is black. Bitterness up front, also lingers at the finish. Coffee flavors are strong, nice stout!

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Roast, some chocolate, anise, and lighter dark fruits. I found this one a on the thinner side all around for an Imperial Stout.

2013 vintage at 8.8% abv. Decent sized brown head of very fine frothy bubbles. Mild aroma with some chocolate malts, a hint of licorice, sweet milk chocolate and lactose. Color is a very dark brown. Quite the zippy mouthfeel. Lots of roasted grains up front, burnt toast, bittersweet chocolate and some strong licorice. Finishes quite dry and bitter with lots of pine and very dark cocao. Moderate alcohol presence. A decent imperial stout.

Bottle from craft. Nice little imperial stout. A tad thin for my likings, but it had nice notes of roast and chocolate and hop. The anise is definitely noticeable.

Bottle. Black with a dark tan head. Aroma is soy sauce, licorice and roasted malt. Taste mostly follows suit and adds a slightly sweet finish and slight hop bitterness. Medium oily mouthfeel. Could be a touch sweeter.

22oz bomber from Spirits Middletown. Poured a thick looking pitch black body with a dense foamy beige head. Aroma is rather sweet with some initial notes of sweetness including some earthiness, wet fowers, chocolate, burnt toast, milk. BIg body thanks to stronger carbonation and a medium mouthfeel, not bad but not great. Flavor is the same as the aroma, sort of sweet up front with some floral notes and cheap chocolate followed by super cheap coffee. Okay beer but for an Impy not impressed.

Serving: Draft. It pours a dark brown color with a small khaki head. The nose has light coffee, strong roasted malt, a little nuttiness, and a little anise. Slightly sweet up front. The flavor highlights the coffee and roasted malt aspects with a pretty light roasted bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Rather ho hum in the imperial stout world.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep black color with a light brown creamy finger high head. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee and has some hop notes. The taste is roasted malts, coffee and dark bitter chocolate. In the finish there are quite a lot of hop flavors. Thicker, creamy body with moderate soft carbonation.
