12 fl oz bottle at Harrys Tap Room, Terminal B, IAD. Pours pitch black with a bubbly, tan and slowly collapsing head. Aroma is roasted dark malty, breadish, caramelish and slight liqourice. Vague smoke note it seems. Smoked, meaty, dark roasted and dark breadish. Light bitterness. Dry liqourice. Dark malty into a smooth roasted and dark malty finish.

Draught at GABF 2008. Black coloured with a medium beige head. Roasted aroma of coffee and smoke. Roasted flavour of coffee and smoke with burnt notes, Roasted and burnt finish.

(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, lactose, and coffee. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, earth, and baking chocolate with a thin mouthfeel and somewhat dry finish.

(ODBF05) Creamy beige head atop a black body. Aroma is mild, medium sweet, roasty. Taste is medium sweet, roasty, some fruitiness, chocolate. Very mild. Light smooth body. Guzzleable.

Bottle from dkachur, thanks! Almost black and opague. Milky, roasty aroma with apple syrup. Thin. Roast flavor with apple. Inoffensive but nothing special.

Draft at Flying Saucer’ Nashville. Poured black color with an average creamy brown head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and dak chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth dry texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

Nitro at Old Dominion Beer Festival 2005... Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, very creamy, beige head. Terrific retention. The aroma is a bit non-descript but comes through with small notes of cocoa and charcoal. The perfectly-balanced flavor is of deeply roasted almonds and vanilla. Light-bodied and mildly creamy with medium carbonation. Lengthy, lightly bitter, bone-dry finish.

Draft at Aria. Dark brown, thick tan head with good retention. Aroma of dark cocoa powder. Taste is chocolate, body is thin. Average.

Bottle poured a clear brownish black with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, light chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt and light vanilla with a smooth dry lingering roasty finish. Not bad, but pretty one dimensional beer.
