Pours a very clear light copper color. Aroma is some very mild citrus notes but not much else. For the style I would expect much more. Taste is sweet malt at first and then changes to bitter citrus. Definitely not one of the better DIPAs out there.

Aromas of citrusy, piney, and floral hops, some bready malts. Clear amber with burnt copper highlights, and a fully lasting satiny off-white head. Off-dry, some aromatic, floral hop notes, a nice malt cushion. Medium bodied, pretty darn smooth.

First had this 4 years ago when I was beginning my craft beer journey up in the Virginia mountains. Severals years later this still holds up as very solid double ipa. Easy drinking iipa with lots of caramel, floral, medium citrus. Quite balanced if you like that kind of thing.

Tasty beer, but too malt-forward for a double IPA, IMO. That said, it does have some tasty malt flavors of toast, caramel and brown sugar. Hops are grassy, floral and somewhat citrusy. Balanced bitterness. Fruity alcohol. As a "beer" it’s pretty solid. As a "double IPA" it’s way too malty.

Starr Hill’s best offering. Look- amber with sticky head. Best way to describe this IPA is "wet". Hops are floral, citrusy, spicy, lovely. Very good.

Standard DIPA appearance, with an orange-amber colored clear body, one finger thick head, and lots of streamers. Why mess with success, right? The smell was a little subdued, as the hops didn’t hit me in the face. I could detect some grapefruit, and mandarin orange smells, as well as a bit of fresh cut hay. The taste was also not very hoppy to me. There was a herbal bitterness, and a touch of spice, but mid palette and finish was dominated by honey like malt. The sweetness overpowered the hops, but it was not a dark fruit like sweetness approaching barleywine character, but rather a sugary, syrupy taste, making this an odd DIPA. It did feel good and soft in the mouth, and the finish was clean. It was a different take on the style for sure. The closest similar beer I can think of is the Green Flash Green Bullet.

Pours a clear amber with a reddish orange color. The head retention is rather nice with some lacing. The aroma is of citrus hop tones with minor pine and mild to moderate booze. In tasting I noticed how sweet this beverage was. It has a descent malt flavor but the malts were a tad overpowered by the sweetness and the mild bitterness of this beverage. The finish was rather enjoyable with a sweet malty flavor reappearing and a lingering bitterness. Overall I enjoyed this more than I thought, it was a spontaneous choice.

12 oz bottle pours an orange color with a nice white head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, lots of citrus. Full bodied, nicely balance with the malt, a nice beer.

I really like this dipa, my first VA beer. Drank it while watching the Virgina Mich. St. NCAA tourny game. Good Simcoe flavor plowing through this great beer.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark orange-caramel color with a lots of little floaters and a medium sized foamy-creamy orange-white head. The aroma was sour and tangy pine and vague fruity hops. The flavor was bitter and tangy pine, grapefruit, lemon, caramel and a bit of cracker. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Bottle. Packaged on: 01/06/14. Mine says 8.6% ABV. A clear ruby/amber pour with a smallish antique white head. The pungent aroma features lots of resiny pine, grapefruits, oranges, zesty citrus rinds, rye, and some caramel. Relatively medium-bodied on the way down. The taste starts with some caramel and sweet cereal grains. Tangy oranges, bitter grapefruits, and zesty citrus rinds finish things off. A lingering dryness at the end. A little rye here and there. Some warming alcohol is noticeable throughout. Tasty stuff.
