Pours a copper color with a dense head. Aroma of citrus rinds. Taste is mild malts, slight simcoe hop profile, a bit of a dough taste then the alcohol hits and tails into mild bitterness. A very plain, dry imperial which could benefit from some complexity in the recipe.

Pleasantly surprised, especially for being 6 months old. A good dose of orange on a malt foundation of pale, caramel and biscuit malts. Citrus pith and a quick little alcohol burst before finishing with more bitter citrus pith. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Atlanta, Ga. - Total Wine - Perimeter - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling medium copper pour, sticky off-white head, decent film of lacing, Aroma has some solid patented spruce hoppy notes, a hint of cat urine. Flavor is solid with some syrupy hoppy citrus bitter notes, some sweet caramel notes, a bit of cake mix sweetness. Thickish mouthfeel. Pleasantly surprised.

Bottle. Nice pine & citrus scent. Pours a reddish golden color with a tan head. Great balance of hops and malt. Piney, grapefruit, earthy, and malt flavor. Creamy texture with some crisp dryness at the end. One of my favorite Starr Hill brews.

Transfer from BA review on 10-9-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a slightly hazed reddish-orange-amber color with a small white head. The head fades rather fast leaving patches of foam on the surface and a super light lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is big and bready with a good dose of tangerine and caramel. Along with these more malty aromas are some rather big hoppy aromas of a grapefruit citrus hop and some resinous pine smells. A rather strong alcohol smell is there as well giving it a rather malty and citrusy warming smell overall. Taste – The taste begins with a dry cracker and biscuit flavor mixed with some tangerine and a rather strong grapefruit hop taste. As the taste moves on, the taste dries out a bit as some tangerine fades away. While this occurs, some pine and a bit of grassy hop comes to the tongue. These flavors add quite a bit of resinous bitterness to the flavor profile, which take the taste to its end where a resinous hopped and semi-sweet malt flavor of a cracker and biscuit nature is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The thicker body is rather nice for the hopped and resinous flavors of the brew and made it a slow sipper Overall –A little unbalanced, starting sweeter and drying out with a decent grapefruit and resinous hop coming to the tongue. While slightly unbalanced it is good and hoppy, so if you are looking for something of the like, then give it a go.

Bottle. Clear dark copper body under a one finger frothy beige head that lowly faded to a thin ring. The nose is fairly heavy citrusy hops, but more caramel malt than anything, some noticeable alcohol. The flavor is just a little too heavy on the caramel malt sweetness for my tastes as far as a DIPA goes. The hops have a real hard time making it past the caramel and crystal malt. Medium bodied and fairly chewy with soft fizzy carbonation. Not my kind of DIPA. I want a big old hop bomb from mine.

Keg @ Starr Hill. Deep amber with a small head. Nose is strongly resinous. Caramel malt and citrus. Taste is dominated by caramel. Some orange candies. Booze. Nothing refined about this. Medi body, oily. Needs work.

Pours a lightly hazy amber with a medium bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel malt, light toasted malt and citrusy hops. Flavor of toasted malt, caramel, pine and grapefruit.

Bottled. Clear orangey brown pour with white head from bottle. Citrus and a bit of malts. PRetty drinkable for a IIPA, not too much booze taste. Pretyy good.

Poured an amber color with aromas of malt, light caramel, floral hops and some light pine. Flavors are the same malt forward followed by some pine and light citrus, lightly hopped for a DIPA more malt forward.

Basic citrussy and grassy hops aromas. Really pretty looks, color and a thick foamy head. Way better on tap then bottle. Smooth, caramel, grassy, syrupy, hides the alcohol content.
