COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Starr Hill’s Jomo Lager is a smooth, multiple-award-winning Light Amber Lager. Fermented with Southern German Lager yeast, its crisp, clean taste, and noticeable hop aroma are effectively balanced with a slight malty sweetness. This is a crossover beer that appeals to the broadest spectrum of brew aficionados.

Bottle. Amber to copper clear pour, with a quickly dissipating head. Not an overly aromatic lager surprisingly. Palate gives a slight caramel and citrus taste, although a bit on the bitter side. The hop content seems to be right on with this lager, just enough, and not too much.

10/05/06 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark golden yellow wih a medium frothy white head. Very good lacing. Very dry tatsting good hop balance. A little bit of a sweet finish maybe honey? Very strong malt characteristics in smell and tatse. Palate leaves very quickly, so no real lasting impressions. A good drinking lager and a decent beer out of the state of Virginia. Cheers!

Draft at the Schockoe Craft Beer Festival in Richmond, 8/26/06: An amber beer. Sugary mlat and an almost tangy coppery metallicness. Nice bitterness in the finish. I liked this fest-style beer.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2007 This lager was tasted at the Richbrau Beer Festival at the Canal. It was the best lager of the festival. Starr Hill Brewer Nate Sadler was at the event. The beer pours to an amber with a nice head. The beer is very similar to Traditional Lager by Yuengling

Draught from the brewer. Pours amber to the glass with a nice medium head which leaves little lace. A caramel citrus nose, the flavors are similar. This is decently hopped, with notes of caramel, orange, citrus and maybe a hint of grapefruit. A medium-lingering bitter finish introduces a slight pine hop, cleansing the palate well. This beer feels a little more complex as the brew warms, indicating the initial pour may have served a bit too cold. Honestly, this doesn’t remind me much of a Vienna. It is extremely indicative of an "IPA light".

Sampled at Old Dominion Brewfest ’06. Clear copper with an off-white head. Toastiness, caramel in the nose. Flavor has notes of kilned toasty caramel malt, toffee and some grassy european hops. Moderately sweet, a good shot of bitterness appears at the end. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Pretty solid.

not a big fan of this brew, though it’s more against the style than the brew. a pretty standard vienna.
