COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Starr Hill’s Jomo Lager is a smooth, multiple-award-winning Light Amber Lager. Fermented with Southern German Lager yeast, its crisp, clean taste, and noticeable hop aroma are effectively balanced with a slight malty sweetness. This is a crossover beer that appeals to the broadest spectrum of brew aficionados.

An American ale with some slight caramel (not sweet, but carbonised) at the aftertaste, this is another subpar brew from the Albemarlers

strong enough hop character that is more like a solid pale ale. this beer has a harsh chalky and grapefruit pith palate that finishes with a bit of earwax and leather with a bit of moldy hard cheese. a turn off for me. it finishes a little sweet with more citrus and an annoying feel in the back of the palate.

It’s a average lager, but certainly beats the mainstream bunch. I would pick it up again but I wouldn’t seek it out.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2010 Sample at Flying Saucer in Nashville. This brew is a clear orange color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes steadily. Jagged rings of lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with mild yeast in the background. Medium body with flavors of sweet caramel malt and fruit, plus a touch of hops. The finish is malty and short. Average overall.

Had with James and compliments of him. Pour is a think clear light copper. Little of the white head lasts long in the glass. Aroma is grassy and strong yeast. Flavor is acidic with hints of malts and strong yeast tones. Not a pleasant brew at all.

Bottle split with Tony. Pours a slightly hazy amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is corn and malt. Mouthfeel is smooth and thin bodied with offensive notes of malt. German malts.

Good malt taste. Smooth like I would expect in an Amber lager. Great brew overall.

12 oz. bottle. Golden amber color with a fair amount of head. Malty aroma with a slight hint of spicy hops. A little biscuitiness in the flavor and slight malty sweetnes. Otherwise it is a pretty clean. Nice dry crisp finish with just enough bitterness to balance it out. Not a bad lager.

A cloudy orange beer with a thick white head. Malty scent with some grass. Taste is crisp and lemony.

(most recently, @ hat factory, RVA) light coppery bronze hue. fizzy. white to off-white head. decent maltiness, but not much complexity. then again, it’s not exactly going for complexity, either. some nice, crispy bready/cracker taste with enough hops to balance but not much more. way more presence here than any of the typical lagers out there, but not the depth of character of some of the better micros or imports.
