3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: Draft at Monticello, 5/3/14
Aroma: It has a pale malt and wheat nose, with some citrus and grains
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color with a white head and some decent lace
Flavor: Flavor-wise, I got some decent wheat, grains, spice, and a dry, citrusy finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a plus carbonation, and an okay mouthfeel
I thought this was an okay beer. I wasn’t sure what to expect, so my expectations weren’t exceeded nor was it much worse than I expected. It’s fine

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tastes almost like a pilsner... Not what I was expecting, and also not very good. Fruitiness comes in on the tail end, which is the only redeeming quality.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours light translucent yellow with little head. Sweet lemony citrus aromas. Tastes of orange, lemon, honey, with a few subtle sour notes, like a hint of grapefruit. A very good "light" beer. Otherwise, it’s just kind of average.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours lemon and a bit hazy with a big white head and some decent lacing. The aroma and flavor both bring lemony notes, fresh crisp malts, and some tame hop bittering at the end, as it would seem appropritate in the German tradition.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
US backlog 2012. Draught at Monticello Heritage Harvest Festival Sep 2012.
1 of 3 Starr Hill options in their segregated Monticello beer cot, a rather bland imperial lager behaving like an ale. Grainy, shyly going over in mild fruit notes, just enough hops to make it pleasant. Served its purpose to wash down the 20+ exotic varieties of tomatoes and peppers. So this is what you get when you implement a president’s dabbling "no receipt for brewing,”...now on to how presidential brews evolved over 2 centuries with Obama’s honey ale...

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
This was sampled at the Starr hill Brewery. he beer poured a hazy light yellow pour with an offwhite head. The nose detected some light lemon but not citrusy. I noticed some bitterness. The bartender said there was also some corn. The beer had average carbonation. The finish had a hint of bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I love the story behind this beer being a Virginia gentleman and all. I would have pegged this more in an imperial pilsner style but it does have some wheaty notes to it as well. Grassy herbal bitterness and a slight astringent Finish. It is a little light and thin but that just makes it a little more seasionable. Light golden clear color definitely makes this at least look more like a pilsner. Either way not a bad beer.

3.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this beer at L’etoile in Charlottesville, VA. Happily drank the bottle alone. Light clove tastes. Very good. Somewhat stale smell though when you lift it to your face to sip.
