3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Braudog (5035) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAR 21, 2012Draft at Taphouse. Quite a light-colored beer for an antique recipe -- clear and golden with a thin white head. The aroma is malty, but the initial taste here has a unique different edge ... it initially comes off with almost an orange essence. This drinks with a clean, smooth, malty character, unoffending, and unique enough to make it fun. Interesting. (#4529, 3/21/2012)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Foxbush (993) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 13, 2013
This was sampled at the Starr hill Brewery. he beer poured a hazy light yellow pour with an offwhite head. The nose detected some light lemon but not citrusy. I noticed some bitterness. The bartender said there was also some corn. The beer had average carbonation. The finish had a hint of bitterness.

I love the story behind this beer being a Virginia gentleman and all. I would have pegged this more in an imperial pilsner style but it does have some wheaty notes to it as well. Grassy herbal bitterness and a slight astringent Finish. It is a little light and thin but that just makes it a little more seasionable. Light golden clear color definitely makes this at least look more like a pilsner. Either way not a bad beer.
3.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MorganBaughman (147) - Long Beach, Mississippi, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Had this beer at L’etoile in Charlottesville, VA. Happily drank the bottle alone. Light clove tastes. Very good. Somewhat stale smell though when you lift it to your face to sip.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jgb9348 (3970) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2012
Pale golden coloured body with a light soapy white head. Aroma of skunk, coconuts, pale malt, corn, coriander seed and a hint of grass and quite a bit of hay. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong hay flavour with some earth and cardboardie malts noticeable with a hint of alcohol and a definite but hard to notice coconut and odd fruit sweetness that hits hard. Aftertaste shows a skunky flavour with some cardboard and other assertive bitter notes. Overall, an interesting and relatively complex beer, for the style. Not a horrible beer to sample, but not the best value for money, especially from this brewer. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased on 24-November-2012 at Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia for US$10.99 sampled at home in Washington on 22-December-2012.
0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 Elwood (2493) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2012
Serving: 750 ml. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a hazy gold with a small white head. The nose smells of musty corn feed. The flavor is rotten buttered popcorn with notes of coconut and dirt. Reminds me of feeding the steers as a kid. This one is total crap and a drain pour. At least with BMC there is a note of bitterness and a light mouthfeel. This one is heavy and has no balance. Retched.

750ml bottle from Kinz. Pours clear golden with white head. Aromas of citrus, wheat, and a bit of fruity. Flavor was grains, wheat, citrus, and some tropical fruit. Nice body and carbonation. Did not get any type of buttery notes. Better than I thought it was going to be. Refreshing and drinkable.

Pours a cloudy golden orange color with no head. Aroma of grain and ginger. Citrus flavor with grain, and ginger at the back end. A touch watery, but an easy drinker. Very nice beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leafs93 (1379) - Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 10, 2012
Pours hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is wheat, citrus and tropical floral. Taste is sweet with what seems to be tropical notes, I am surprised by this. Light bodied with smooth texture. The tropical elements made this very interesting.
