Honeycomb and orange peel nose. Cloudy orange, medium yellow head, good lacing. Grapefruit flavor predominates, with a more bitter grapefruit peel and orange peel in the finish. Well blended celery notes appear as the glass warms. Well hopped with citrusy hops. Tastefully maltier when warm. Great IPA, not heavy, and quite bitter.

Bottle thanks to cavie. Yellow pour with a white head. Light citrusy hops and smooth esters on the nose. Nice on the palate with a smooth citrusy hop flavor and a smooth finish.

glennmastrange (2214) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 1, 2009
Bottle. Malt aromas are of moderate grain, roasted and bread, pine for the hops and light soap for the yeast. Head is thin, wispy, slightly off-white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy orange/tan. Flavor starts moderately acidic and lightly bitter, then the long finish is heavily bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation and a dry finish. Simple, lacking any sweetness and a bit out of balance, but still fairly IPA-ish.

nice head, good taste, nice and hoppy, not too bitter. A slight aftertaste. Bottle says 5.8 ABV even though is says 7.2 here. Will drink this beer again

Light copper with medium head. Biscuit malts and pine/citrus/mango hop flavors. Heavy bitterness. Solid, but doesn’t set itself apart much. Needs more hop flavor for my preferences. Balanced well; malts contribute almost as much as the hops. Seeing that this is only distributed Feb - Apr has me wondering if this isn’t the freshest bottle.

Cavie (3749) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - NOV 14, 2009
Bottle courtesy of emacgee. Clear orange pour. Very light aroma. Little amounts of anything on the nose. Taste is a dry hop with bitter elements that fill in the flavor. Dry finish that is a tad rough.

Bottle thanks to cavie. Pours with a hazy amber body and a fading off-white head. Aroma of light citrus and caramel. Taste is bitter and hoppy with some lemon/citrus and caramel. Medium carbonation. Did not notice the alcohol.

Starr Hill hasn’t scored to well with me but this IPA is actually really good. I think they should knock off some of the other nonsense and focus on bringing this up a notch and deliver a stellar beer. Pours clear amber-gold. Lots of good hops and it’s straight to the point. Nice bouquet, decent amount of bite, and not some weirdo off-taste you get with smaller IPAs. The only thing that holds this back is that it doesn’t have that "ooo this is different" factor...yet. I think they can find that though. Lot’s of Florida folks here. They must be hammering the distribution this way.
