bottled. Good IPA with enough hops to separate it from "every other IPA"... barley. Slightly sticky. While the citric bite is there, the mouthfeel is soapy with a slight iron(?) aftertaste. It’s good, but w/ a name like Northern Lights you expect dank.

bottle BB november... the year i am unsure of... pours with a pale coppery hue and a rocky light tan head. it’s got lots of splotchy clingy lacing. there is a distinct aroma similar to a hand full of pennies... mixed with grapefruit, orange, caramel malt, cinnamon-like spiciness, dirty earthy hops and dried apricots. initially, it tastes like blood?.... along with grapefruit, grain, caramel, spicy hops, orange, juniper-like sweet pine and dirt. the palate is far too sweet and out of balance. the only bitterness comes on the finish though it is not really dry. meh. 6/3/6/3/12/3.0

Bottle from the grocery store. Pours out a copper orange color with a white head on it. Smell is grassy, fruity, hops, grapefruit, and some sugary malt smell. Pretty good tasting beer too, refreshing, hoppy, not over the top. An easy drinking, yet run of the mill IPA. Doesnt stand out in the sea of IPAs. I would buy it again though.

Bottle from the BP in Sylva! Pours an orange copper beer with a huge puffy head orange head with great lacing. Arom a is piny grapefruit oil hoppiness. Flavor is sweet deep grapefruit with a burst of pines. Medium thickness body, very rich. Nice beer, one of my favorite this summer

On tap at Deluxe Grill and Tap. This poured an orange color with an aroma of pine, orange, and grapefruit. The flavor is rather bitter with some malty aspects to balance it out but also a ton of pine, grapefruit, and oranges. Overall a very nice IPA!

Bottle from Turdferguson. Pours a murky copper color with a thin off-white head that sticks around and yields some blotchy lacing. Aroma is malty and floral with bread and faint citrus. Somewhat sweet flavors, malty upfront, caramel, and floral and somewhat citrusy hops follow to a crisp bitter finish. Thickish malty support, could be a Pale or ESB although this reminds me (and I don’t know why) a little of Lost Coast Indica. Solid. Thanks Sam!

The one sampling they were out of at the brewery, but I got a bottle to sample locally. Mine, like some others have noted, claims a 5.8% ABV. Pours deep amber into the glass, with a nice frothy off-white head that reduces to a thin cap, leaving soapy lace. The nose on this one has lots of citrus and peel/zest, along with a nice floral hop. A hop-concentrated brew, with offerings of oranges, grapefruit and some caramel and cantaloupe intermingling. A palate-cleansing hop bite suffices the finish, lingering appropriately for the round mouthfeel. Has good substance, but goes down well on a summer night, without being too heavy. Good IPA, and one that I wish hadn’t been tapped out on draught. Tasty and enjoyable.

Bottle, labeled 5.8% abv. Pours a hazy orange with a very well formed head. The aroma is certainly hoppy with lots of emphasis on melon and orange. I’m guessing Amarillo here. The palate is medium and goes well with the semi-bitter flavor. Soft citrus is all over with a funky finish that brings to mind a Belgian golden ale, just without the pronounced esters. I’m surprised to see that Cascade is the only hop variety listed here. I didn’t get an abundance of the typical Cascade delivery, though some of that was certainly here. This one is more about the mellower melon/orange flavors. I enjoyed it.

Pours a soft peachy amber with a one finger creamy offwhite head. The nose is soapy, some fruit, citrus rind, mild peanut shell. The flavor is waxy with some subdued bitternss, mild citrusy character, peanut shell, mildly sweet. Decent for an IPA.
