2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Distant hop smell. Flavor of caramel and slight bittery hop. A let down of an ipa but a decent beer. More malty than most ipas. A beer snob would wave his/her hand away at this. Its too hoppy for "standard" beer drinker to get drunk off easily, and too weak for a connoisseur to give the high ratings.

Some pine, citrus and sweet malt on the nose. Flavor is pretty light on the malts with a decent dose of bitterness.

Dull IPA, lost its flavor. Smokier taste than most other IPAs. Good potential for a softer IPA.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled January 15, 2013.
Appearance: This is the epitome of an IPA as far as looks go. The body is crystal clear with an amber hue and lots of carbonation throughout. The head rises quickly creating a tall and foamy light tan head that craters as is slowly dissipates.
Aroma: The aroma is strong of caramel and toasted malts with some citrus and floral notes. Too much caramel here.
Taste: The caramel is strong here right from the intro on, a light floral hop presence comes through with a touch of grapefruit during the mid-taste with some toasted malts and dries out by the end. This is more caramel than hops by a long shot.
Palate: Medium body, full texture, soft carbonation.
Overall: This has 52 IBUs, that means that they must have used a crap load of crystal malt. The malts severely outweigh the hops. This would be a much better beer if they used less crystal malts, and it would save them money.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Nose very sweetly hoppy, getting some great floral and tangy notes different from normal c-hop citrus, a little more tropical with underlying spice. Clear bronzed orange body with a foamy off-white head. Taste is very sweet but not cloying, light-medium bitterness strives but fails to bring balance. Pleasant fruitiness, orange peel and lots of juice, floral and faint spicy notes, a little bit o’ the islands here, soft and minor malt but it’s an appealing whole. Light body with well-integrated alcohol, fresh and tasty, yum.

I was surprised that this beer was so darn good. I never heard of the brewery, but this IPA is worth finding. Great maltiness and the right amount of hop for my taste. Smooth enough to be a session brew but it aint...bottoms up beer lovers.
