I was surprised that this beer was so darn good. I never heard of the brewery, but this IPA is worth finding. Great maltiness and the right amount of hop for my taste. Smooth enough to be a session brew but it aint...bottoms up beer lovers.

12oz bottle. Clear vibrant amber with a faint biege ring of head. Light hops that are somehow astringent, caramel, bit of apple and otherwise quite plain. Moderate carbonation, mild body, sweet and caramel taste, becomes quite bitter and not too balanced.

On tap at Copper Canyon in Silver Spring, MD. Understated aroma of pine, light citrus and a touch of malt. Taste of grapefruit, pine, a bit of floral hops and a little bready and caramel malt. Medium body and medium carbonation. An unpresumptive IPA. A fine choice at a Copper Canyon, but not your best option at a typical beer bar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Description says Northern Lights is a seasonal, if that’s the case this beer has held up well. Citrus aroma, golden bodied, foam and lacing throughout the sample. I like the crispness of this medium bodied IPA. Even tasted a wee bit of banana. Sampled in a Veltins 0.3l thistle glass.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2013 It was creamy orange, but had only a trace of a head. The aroma was strong hops and citrus, and the flavor was really big, bitter hops. Pine, grass, citrus, and a little sweetness in the finish. Comparable to Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo, but not as clean. I mean "not as clean" in a good way. I enjoyed this beer.

Clear deep golden pour, thin white head and light lacing ... aroma is light and malty with just a hint of citrus hops .... taste is of bitter citrusy hops, caramel malts and lightly toasted malts with a light rindy and resiny hop flavor as well ... finish is bitter and lingers slightly ... very apa-ish and boring

Dark hazy golden-amber body. Moderate sized off-white head. Light citric and grassy hops, assertive caramel malt base in the nose. The flavor profile is even more minimalistic--fain hop bitterness, prominent caramel and pale malts. Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, moderate bitterness in the finish.

From the bottle there was an immediate IPA taste with a perfectly bitter end and nice notes throughout. good beer
