Draft at Green Leafe Newtown. Pours turbid dark straw with off-white head. Nose is resiny hoppy, fruity, malty, with some spice. Tastes smooth, rich, complex, very hoppy with well balanced malt and late tropical fruit and spicy notes. This one was very good.

Awesome full boddied IPA. HEavy bitter taste and major hoppy aroma. Minimal head and overal a great beer. The only down side was a bit of a sticky texture.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2013 This was an amazing experience. Another ale at the Capital Ale House in Richmond, VA. The head was a frothy white and the aroma was a wonderful citrus or grapefruit aroma. The beverage was amber and clear. The hops bitterness and balance of malt and alcohol were perfect. This was super from the first sip to the last. I could have had only the ale all night. On my birthday in 2009 we enjoyed at Capital Ale House Starr Hill’s Northern Lights IPA. Somewhat cloudy and very frothy head. It was still an excellent IPA. My son had Racer 5 another great IPA. I tasted this IPA at the brewery in Crozet in early March. I learned that this also a favorite of the Brew Master Mark Thompson.

Cask. A lovely IPA true to its name. Pours a lively and somewhat coarse head with a hazy and golden amber body. Reeks of hops. Nicely balanced with malt though. As my drinking buddy noted: "beer as it must have been in the 1700s." Not overabundant but not shy. British in texture but not in the bite... American in IBUs but not in strength. Simply a great session brew.

I really like this IPA. Nice hop balance that is not in your face and comes across very creamy and smooth for an IPA. extremely drinkable. This IPA is worthy of a 90 percent rating easily. In todays hop in your face world of IPAs this is a refreshing treat from the market of over the top hoppy brews.

Points for twist-off. Pours an off-white head that barely laces with a clover honey colored body. Smells of pine and apricot. Flavor is citrus hops and honey. Finish is bitter with some honey. The malt comes out the warmer it gets.

On tap at Deluxe Grill and Tap. This poured an orange color with an aroma of pine, orange, and grapefruit. The flavor is rather bitter with some malty aspects to balance it out but also a ton of pine, grapefruit, and oranges. Overall a very nice IPA!

Bottle from the BP in Sylva! Pours an orange copper beer with a huge puffy head orange head with great lacing. Arom a is piny grapefruit oil hoppiness. Flavor is sweet deep grapefruit with a burst of pines. Medium thickness body, very rich. Nice beer, one of my favorite this summer
