UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Ok for a dopple. Rating on what it should be. Husband likes it but he isn?t a fan of the dopple. I found it lacking the malt and grainy goodness. Bottle

A nice winter warmer beer. Malty and sweetness with slight aroma of hops. Refreshing palate with crisp, smooth finish. Bold taste of roasted malts and toffee with maybe some carmel. Nice beer to enjoy by the fire on a cold winter night.

Pours amber-brown into the glass, with a fully reduced wispy head that leaves trace lacing. Malty sweet with rum bread to the nose. Flavors are toasted caramel malts and spices, with just a hint of ABV and spiced bready notes to finish. There are some very good things at work here. By the by, itís a decent Doppelbock that satisfies on cold evenings, but a touch more dark ester complexity would catapult the offering to a top-shelf tier. Very nice, though. Definitely will have again due to its cold-weather comfort.

Really like these guys, more than likely due to all the Dead references, but the beer is pretty good as well! Nice, warm flavor. Not too sweet; doppelbocks can feel fuzzy on the tongue sometimes. Lovely color. Ruddy copperish. Slightly raisiny, nice bitterness. Malty enough, I guess!

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a reddish brown color with good clarity. The head is really disappointing - itís not even a finger high, and even then doesnít have good retention. Itís more or less a mocha-colored film. No lacing to speak of, either. S: Pretty typical for a doppelbock. The primary note here is caramel sweetness, but thereís also a goodly amount of brown sugar (and later, nuts) emanating. Some of the fruitier notes - like, say, cherry - arenít as prevalent as Iíd like them to be. Letís call the nose ísatisfactoryí, shall we? T: Yep, this is a total caramel-and-brown sugar bomb. It finishes with a faint hint of fruity lager yeast. This is a solid (but simple) doppelbock, with one problem...a mustiness builds up on the back end, and itís kind of off putting. M: The light flavor profile does give it an advantage here...despite the high sweetness level, itís zesty carbonation and semi-dry finish makes this one pretty drinkable. The lager yeast is a little too biting in its crispness, but otherwise thereís nothing wrong with the mouthfeel. O: For better or worse, this is a lighter doppelbock. Itís not bold, but itís easy to drink. Itís only problem is there are a couple other examples out there that ARE bold, while retaining its drinkability. I wouldnít put this one on my "must purchase again" list, thatís for sure.

Pours dark brown/amber with a off white head. Roasted & sweet caramel malt aroma with fruity yeastiness. Sweet caramel malt flavor roasty notes. Dark dried fruit flavor in the middle with slight molasses. Finish is sweet dark dried stone fruit booziness.

Not a huge beer, just drinkable and ok. Pours dark brown without much head or lacing. Some chocolate malt flavor here with light sweet finish. A note of crisp malt. Cask at Churchkey.

Deep copper appearance with a medium size tan head and decent lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and tobacco. Lightly hopped, caramel and toffee flavors sit on top of toasted malts. Medium bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering finish.
