3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 tia (763) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Tap. Hazy amber with thin head and decent lacing. Smells like coriander, peach gummy candy, and rubber. Not too sweet, a little dry, a tad grainy, bit of a spice. Spice grows, light dry finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Kinz (2973) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2013
On tap at the volleyball club. Medium to light gold, very slight haze, nice head. Aroma is banana esters, pale malts, and a touch of graphite. Some floral notes presumably from hopping as well. Flavor is essentially a match. The banana notes are a bit unusual at this level in a saison, and the finish could stand to be a bit drier. But after playing volleyball for an hour, it was remarkably refreshing. The table went for a second pitcher as well.

Bottle poured into a tulip. Deep hazy hold with a white head. As soon as I started to pour all I could smell was cloying cotton candy. Took a big whiff from the glass and felt myself getting diabetes. Took a sip and felt my teeth rotting out. Instant drain pour.

Bottle. Deep golden with small head. Mild Saison with light funk and spice. Pretty accessable, I’d recommend this to someone unfamiliar with the style. Probably isn’t going to win over any hard core Saison fans though.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 22, 2013
This beer pours a clear copper color with a medium off-white head that evaporates quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit, yeast and grain. Light to medium body with flavors of ripe fruit, earthy yeast and a touch of bready malt. The finish is fruity with a sweet malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Total Wine and more in Claymont. Bottles 2/13/13. Pours clear orange with a small white head that dissipates really quickly. The aroma makes me think they mixed a Tripel and a Saison. There is that typical Belgian yeast aroma, some lemon, and then a bit of the sugary aroma from a Tripel. The taste has a nice dry lemon flavor, a little sweetness sneaks out. There is nothing wrong with this but it doesn’t do anything special. Considering the price, I may pick this up once in awhile.
