A German-style Hellerbock with a few twists, The Gift is Starr Hill’s holiday offering. The beautiful golden color only hints at the fire inside. Made with two-row and Munich malts and balanced with German noble hops, The Gift is the perfect accompaniment to any holiday event or festivity.

Clear, amber/gold appearance with a small white head and little lacing. Muted, honeyed aroma with little depth. Uncomplicated sweet, grainy, flavor with hints of soft fruit. Medium-to-light bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel, with a short lived finish.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a hazy medium brown with a 1.5 finger head. Decent head retention. Aroma is sweet grain. Pretty one dimensional. The taste is much like the smell. Sweet grains dominate the palate with a bit of breadyness. Bitterness is fairly assertive but no hop flavors. Mouthfeel is medium to full. This beer is just ok. I thought the flavor was lacking and could have used more maltiness.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper color. Light, malty aroma. Light, tarty taste with some hops and malt. Nothing too spectacular though. Definitely needs some more punch.
