A German-style Hellerbock with a few twists, The Gift is Starr Hillís holiday offering. The beautiful golden color only hints at the fire inside. Made with two-row and Munich malts and balanced with German noble hops, The Gift is the perfect accompaniment to any holiday event or festivity.

(12 ounce bottle - ) Pours a big fat head. Sweet yeasty aromas. Tastes a little on the sour tart side. For 6.5% alcohol is pretty subdued. Also has a light hoppy character. Creamy texture and lively carbonation.

Pours a golden color with a white head. Has a nice slightly sweet and bitter aroma. Taste is a bit carbonated. Not too shabby.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer has aroma of wet grass, and some spice. The color is golden with a white head. Taste is below average, not really my think. Lagerlike tastes that are slightly spicy. The beer is thick like a lager. Overall, not impressed, would not buy again.

I like the label a lot but Iím not in love with the beer. The attack is kin of musty. It tastes kind of bloated in the body. Not in love with this beer at all. Cool label.

This is sweeter than I normally like, but it is alright. I donít know why the sweetness doesnít bother me. I canít really smell much because I was sick and my nose is still a bit stuffy. Appearance is standard and non-exciting. I donít taste any fire?

Chef Geoffís, DC tap ($7): Pours a light copper color with a white head. Aroma is a little spicy, with sweet malts at the forefront, and even a little boozy note. The beer is rather sweet, but not as cloying and annoying as some of the other people are making it out to be. Strange bready notes (donít know how else to describe them). There actually is a counterbalancing hops presence, which doesnít really mitigate the sweetness of the beer. Not that bad. Drinkable, a bit strange, and nothing really all that special.

This a growler fom the brewery enjoyed on a night prior to work at Va tech. The beer was like a beligan white. It was too sweet for my taste. It needs some hops for balance. Smooth finishSome head with cloudy amber color.

On tap at the red lion in florida, nice place. Looks like pale lager. No visible CO2. Smells just plain fresh & beery. A lager which is a little coarse. Reminds me a bit of cheaper american malt liquor. Typical bock beer experience. Probaly should be styled as a strong lager.

Poured a hazy amber/orange color with a foamy off-white head. Slightly sweet fruity aroma with cheese and dough. Taste has a surprising amount of orange flavor with coriander. Reminds me of a Belgian white almost, with all the wheat notes. A little too sweet and not many hops to balance it out, but itís drinkable.

Super hazy golden coloured body with a large off-white head and a thick body that looks like raw manuka honey. Aroma of pale malt, unfinished wort, sweetness, apricots and some light hops. Medium-bodied; Strong citrus and orange flavours with a bit more unfinished flavours tucked in. Aftertaste has some light citrus, very light german or european hops and some malt characteristics (wheat or light malt) that show fairly well. Overall, a decent beer - okay for the style, but nothing absolutely great and nothing expected for this time of year! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Ye Olde Spirit Shop in Frederick, Maryland on 29-July-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 17-January-2011.
