12oz Bottle: Pours amber orange, a reasonable white head on top. Aroma is heavy with toffee, quite malty. It’s a smooth sip but with a sharp alcohol bite, grass, toffee and some bitter, floral hops. Better than I expected, nice.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is slightly offensive with a sour vinegar like pungency. There is a bit of sweet malt and fruit but it’s hard to detect. The appearance is amber gold with a foamy head. The taste is hardly sour at all and is actually quite nice with an emphasis on malt and a touch of fruit. The palate is average. Overall it’s not the best smelling beer but it tastes alright.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz – The Wine Source. Gold, creamy white head. Sweet butterscotch and toasted bready notes warm to softer scents of dried dark fruit and apple. Sweet golden raisin bread flavors take on a faint dried cherry and caramel finish. Medium bodied with a smooth sweet end. Not bad, but the sweetness needs to be better kept in check next time…

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2009 bottle, shared by peregrinari: Pours a transparent bright golden bronze with a small froth of off-white head. Has a sweet caramel and butterscotch nose with some light fruity esters. Starts with good fullness and sweet doughy caramel with some warming alcohol and light fruity complexity before a drier slightly more bittersweet finish. A decent heller bock.
