Tasted April 2014 at the brewery. 59 IBUs. Pours copper amber with small head and lace. Aroma of cardamon, mint, cinnamon stick, candy cane. Moderate carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of strong malts, medicinal herbs, cinnamon, bourbon, Jagermeister. Overall big, bold, complex with strong herb and liquor flavors.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy dark reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big spice, lemon, lots of anise into some bourbon, oak, vanilla, into caramel, toffee, fruit. Taste was a mix of big caramel, toffee, lots of the honey comes through into spice, anise, some esters, finishing fairly sweet, slightly spicy. Interesting, but not sure if I’d want another glass.

Tap at the brewery - I am not a fan of the base beer, but this is quite interesting - it has the honey and lemon character, as well as the light alcohol warmth you expect from a hot toddy - the clove and cinnamon come on strong late, complimenting the overall warming character well - I actually would live to try this still and mulled, as I think it would be much more interesting warm - some light vanilla from the barrel late, as well as some maraschino cherry maltiness - quite interesting - a beer to drink to chase away an early cold.

At Denver fire station no. 26 with Stephen. Aroma is pungent fruity gram cracker, orange juice. Taste is interesting raw malt, carmalized wheat sugar.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is clear orange with a frothy white head an great lacing. Vanilla, coconut, perfumey, toasted malt, light raisins, bread, and caramelly aroma. Taste is coconut, weird perfume, light wood, grapefruit, figs, biscuit, and alcohol with a lightly bitter finish. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Kind of a weird beer and has a different smell/taste that I can’t really pick up on.

10 oz at the brewery. What an interesting beer. They really managed to make this taste like a hot toddy. The aroma is richly lemony with subtle whiskey barrel notes with undertones of licorice, cinnamon, black tea. The flavor is carried by a heavier palate. It’s complex and harmonious with spiced notes of dill and anise with tea, vanilla, lemon, coconut, cinnamon. Pretty crazy beer and obviously spiced without being a turn off. I enjoyed one, but might not love to drink multiple.
