Draught at at Düsseldorf airport. Bright clear golden, firm airy head. Mediumintensity hoppy grassy nose. Dryish with dense mouthfeel and light-medium body. Straight forward flavour profile with some grass. Rather bitter finish. A standard pils of fair quality.

Woody graininess in the snout. Bitterly dry and cleanly hoppy with some maize-like softness after the swallow.

Quite a regular local pils. Higher on bitterness than most from the NRW area. I would really love to like it more as it’s basically the only beer from Essen, but I just can’t find anything really good about this beer. There’s usually a better one to chooce.

Bottle. Goldenish colour. Good hoppy aroma. Flavour is dry, crispy, quite bitter, slight metallic. Bitter finish.

ALLOVATE (2683) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 11, 2007
Bottle, off-license in Düsseldorf, Germany (June ’06).
Pours a sunny, yellow tinged straw and bright as they come. Small eddies of fine carbonation released to a decent, well-retained head of fluff. Spicy, Noble hops on the nose, clean, dry, grassy and peppery, with just a little barnyard grain lurking underneath. Pale, clean malts up first in the mouth, a lot of hops are present and the malt soon cowers underneath. Very light in body, you could call it delicate yet it bounces across the tongue with lightning speed. Grassy, peppery hops in back, dry, dusty and well orchestrated. Finish has a peak of bitterness before dropping off clean, crisp and dusty. This is a very clean tasting lager, nothing special but it goes down a treat and doesn’t leave any evidence behind to stop you enjoying the nights next beer. A decent Pils. (50cL, 15/09/06)

A nice crisp and refreshing cleansing of the palate after a good run in Wiesbaden, probably a good lawnmower beer, but nothing to brag home about (about average, just below average within style). Aroma was grainy and of grass. The flavor was a touch of honey, but otherwise more grainy and grass-like (some lemon grass notes as well). Mouthfeel was crisp, dry, light, an upper-end lawn mowing beer, also a nice palette cleanser before retiring for the night.

Aroma is souly grassy, which is good for a change. Taste is similarly grassy and bitter, however theres anough malt character to help balance it out.

not a bad beer. i’m in Essen right now and i just had quite of bit of this at a club the other night. pretty basic pils, with a nice white head and a good deal of effervescence. a little hoppy and grassy in the nose, with a bit of malt in there too. rather active on the palate, though goes down a bit like water.

just another german pilsner, although more malty than the most of them, crispy finish

(bottle) Typical Pilsener appearance. Aroma of herbal hops and some white pepper spice. Slight malty taste with a lasting crispy, dry and very hopbitter finish. Not bad.
