COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saint Andre is made with a blend of five specialty malts imported from Belgium. These help to create a smooth, complex character which is balanced by a crisp hop flavour. The result is a remarkably drinkable beer that celebrates the best Europe has to offer. Lager in The Bohemian style. Note: Brewed by Doug Pengelly of Ste. Andre at the Stratford Brewing facility.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper orange with an OK off white head. Grainy, cereal and hay aromas, no distinguishable hop aroma. Body is light-medium with some hop flavour and bitterness, however the malt takes the lead with a complex (for a lager) structure of sweetness, bread, grain and some nutty notes on the palate. Finish is semi-dry with the sweetness and additional flavours of the malts leading right through with a touch of refreshing bitterness on the tip of the tongue. Nice malty lager for what it’s worth.

Bottle. Pours gold/amber, thin but persistent off-white head, that reduces to a thin ring, lacing is spotty to nonexistent. Nose is toffee, crystal malt, fruit, really just those three, trying to find more here, but its just not there. Flavors of bread, noble hops, lemon, crystal malt/caramel, light fruit, rather sticky, slightly sour doughy finish. I’d have another one if you offered it to me.
