2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rentalman (103) - British Columbia, - NOV 29, 2004(Bottle) Pours light golden with almost no head at all. Smells grainy and green but maybe that is some osmosis from the bottle coloring. Very grainy and tinnish flavor not offensive just not enjoyable lacks body and some hops.

bottle. I like the freshness if this pilsner. Steam whistle produces only this type of beer for years and I respect this. Light golden colour, clear beer. White rich head that does not last long. Aroma of bread dough and wet grain. Taste is somehow sweet and bitter at the end. Hops are herbal and mild. It could have more bitterness. A refreshing pilsner,

I have tried this beer in bottle, can and on tap. On tap tastes much better. This is an unpasteurized and only filtered beer. Pours a nice clear light golden colour, right carbonation with white head that does not last long and some lacing. Aroma is very grainy in fact that of wet grains, and soft bread dough. Taste is grain malts, with some sweetness. Hops are herbal and for my taste it needed more. Body is light. This is a very refreshing pilsner, Well crafted in a beautiful brewery environment. If you visit Toronto it is worth visiting this brewery in a historic building. Quite brave for producing only one type of beer in a market which is not so pre-pilsener one!!

Golden in colour. Thin head. Watery taste. Not a bad brew on a hot day if there isn’t anything else available. Cheers!

This is a pilsener, and I feel it’s getting a bad rap because pilseners aren’t typically very interesting or flavourful beers.
There is little to no aroma to be found, slight hints of hay.
The colour is a beautiful bright wheat yellow.
The taste (for the style of beer it is) is crisp, clean, notes of hay, sweet corn? highly sessionable, and incredibly refreshing.
Not something I would drink regularly as I usually drink Ipa’s but steam whistle is perfect for the first beer after a long hard day at work or for a refreshing beer on the patio.

Great! Did not expect to find such great pilsner taste in Canada. Of course best ratings in all categories and highly recommend to make the tour in the roundhouse!

pours a crystal clear straw colour, with a creamy head and some lacing. The aroma is of corn, wet hay, sweet malts. The tasting notes include crackers, corn, light caramels, water, slight carbonation and a dry finish. I am not a huge fan of the style, this beer is no different. Very very light, and boring. I think I would prefer a glass of water to this beer!

Bottle in Waterloo, Ontario, 1st May 2013, best beer of a bad bunch on a poor evening selection. It has some flavour, a step up from the mass produced stuff, not my style

canned. a gift from Canada among other beers. this wannabe pilsner is overall not that bad. an industrial beer that has one purpose only: kill the thirst. and I think it does that well. a beer-like aroma is almost not present. however it has a nice shiny golden color! no head. the taste is a bit hops, malt, low bodied, low bitter finish.
however, it tastes very refreshing. definitely a brew ideal after work-out instead of some yucky sugared soda or pure water. with each sip this "beer" becomes quite enjoyable. in its category of industrial beers this brew is not bad at all.

Of the less than average pilsners in Toronto, this is probably in the top fifth or so. Light, pretty refreshing and sessionable. A little musty in the aroma with a bit of a floral aroma.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2013 The beer being a Pilsner is not going to win many craft fans approval. It is decent for what it is. For sure better then a mass produced beer like Molson Canadian or Labatt Blue. Nice little brewery and offers a enjoyable tour of the brewery with nice staff. Located right by the core of downtown and in a great tourist area. I just wish this brewery made more then 1 beer, would love to go and enjoy and taste other styles of beer, but with only 1 beer the brewery is a bit boring.
