Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 16, 2000 Updated: Feb 10, 2004This is a pilsner like I'm a Sherpa. Bland, bland, bland. These guys only brew the one product, under the theory that if Creemore can do it, so can they. Difference being that Creemore is a flavourful, quality beer, while Steamwhistle is a cool bottle. Even on re-evaluation, this beer holds little appeal. The odd bit of maltiness, some unhappy English-tasting hops, no body. argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Jul 22, 2002 Mild sweet aroma, mild flavor. Pils undertones below an easy sweet brew. Minimal bitter aftertaste. Definitely designed to appeal to the masses, and given how inoffensive it is, it probably does. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Nov 9, 2004 On tap at the Clocktower brewpub with CapFlu, tiggmtl, radiomgb and Rastacouere; tap 1/2 pint which I had to have, glutton for punishment that I am, as the pub only had three of their own on. Sigh. Very clear light amber with minimal head...buttery, lightly herbal weak aroma...very bland, watery and with some metallic bitterness. Quite unpleasant. Cornfield (4255), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Aug 5, 2005 By merit of its crisp flavor and its noticeable, clean floral hopping, I think this "premium lager" has more rights to the title of Pilsener than do many that are listed under that category. Whate’er - this clear, pale gold brew from The Good Beer Folks has some lively carbonation and a respectable, frothy white head. The taste is sweet and grainy with a healthy handful of floral hops rising in the crsip, dry finish. Not bad.

tiggmtl (4180), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 8, 2004 Updated: Nov 22, 2005Sweet, mild, floral aroma is somewhat grainy. Clear golden body with thin white head that diminishes to cover and coats the glass. Citrus and grain in the flavour. Thin and metallic and really not very pleasant. On tap at the Clocktower brewpub with CapFlu, muzzlehatch, radiomgb and Rastacouere. Resampled at the brewery and found this to be a reasonably contructed pilsener. I’d have to guess that it may suffer from the green bottle or from age in locations where it doesn’t get served enough. Original rating was 4-3-3-2-5=1.7. Rerate has been posted. Mild herbal hops over lightly grainy malts in the aroma. Clear golden body with decent, fine bubbled, fizzy, white head that recedes slowly to partial cover. Grainy cereal malts with herbal hops and fair finishing bitterness. Light body with crisp, strong carbonation. On tap at the brewery.
