3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - JUL 27, 2006
Cask, handpump @ the Market Porter, Southwark.
Bright copper with a very thin film of white that dissipated quickly (dirty glass?). Couldn’t pick up much aroma as by now the bar was packed and Silktork was in full swing with the appreciation of cask ales. Upfront it shows some toffee and rye-like malt tones before the flowery, earthy depth of Goldings come in around mid-palate. Mildly bitter on the swallow. Picked up an odd fell-berry flavour with some earthy hops and woody malt in the aftertaste. Quite a nice bitter, not too heavy. Well balanced, smooth and very easy to drink.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 harrisoni (10911) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JUN 8, 2006
Cask handpull at Market Porter. Copper colour with thin beige head. Earthy bitter with growing lasting hop finish. Earthy hop aroma is attractive. Refreshing in mouth. Good bitter, very drinkable. The hop finish goe on forever. Just surprisingly good.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 29, 2005
Mid brown colour. Served through a tight sparkler, so not a lot of aroma. Some modest citric hop notes get through. More of the same on the palate. Caramel and fruit too. Plenty of bitter grip. Mellow mouthfeel, slightly sweet, but fresh and clean. A decent, well-balanced, brew. Cask (handpump) at the Cow and Plough, Oadby, Nr Leicester.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 leaparsons (7069) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2004
Bright amber with a dense head. Aromas are hoppy with sulphur and spices. Flavours are light and fruity malts with more sulphur and spices, then a dry finish. Feels thick on the palate - its a bit too filling for a bitter.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 imdownthepub (8470) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 27, 2004
Cask Conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury. Orange gold beer with bubbly head. Well balanced bitter with a floral fresh aroma and fresh hoppy taste. Plenty of light roast malt, but overall this is a hoppy bright beer to be drunk fresh.
