3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at the Cow and Plough, Oadby, Leicestershire. I took the time to visit this place following a recommendation on the CAMRA website and apart from the stale crisps I wasn't disappointed! The Sky Diver will probably go down as one of the nicest English Bitters I ever tasted. At 5% its one of the strongest bitters you will find and it's slightly darker too. There's a slightly stronger aroma than you might expect from a classic English bitter and there's a very strong and smooth malty taste with a hint of treacle. Not as spicy as you might expect, but that does not detract from the pleasure of drinking this beer. A top quality ale indeed. Looking forward to the next one!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hand pulled at the Dog and Gun, Syston, Leicester. Sweet mahoghany colour (descriptor nicked from someone else). Very sweet, blousey Premium. Lots of nut, Galaxy choc, fudge/caramel sort of thing. Bitterness emerges in the finish. Very smooth on the tongue, some sour lactic moments. A slightly overwhelming flavour, not too subtle, but I warmed to it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mid brown colour. Served through a tight sparkler, so not a lot of aroma. Some modest citric hop notes get through. More of the same on the palate. Caramel and fruit too. Plenty of bitter grip. Mellow mouthfeel, slightly sweet, but fresh and clean. A decent, well-balanced, brew. Cask (handpump) at the Cow and Plough, Oadby, Nr Leicester.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Brewed for Steamin Billy by Grainstore of Oakham. This beer is toffee coloured with a white head. Aromas are hoppy and bitter. Flavours are fruity malts with peppery hops. Finished by a long dry aftertaste. A good premium bitter.
