3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beershine (4562) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - OCT 3, 2011
Draft @ brewpub. I believe this version was with Chardonnay yeast. Gold with lots of rising bubbles. Interesting aroma begs one to contemplate the importance of yeast in brewing. The white wine yeast transforms this beer, and creates a fabulous, trippy aroma of green grapes and apples, in a good way, very winey. Great drinkability, and does not taste strong. Clean and with an off-dry finish. Lots of sugars on the palate. Has intense Gewurtztraminer flavors with a nutty malt undertone that gives the kind of body I always wish a white wine would have. A fabulous experiment and drinking experience.

Draught. Aged in wine barrels. This was light gold and sparkly. The aroma is vinous, footy with light bready malt notes. Woody, vinous palate. Maybe a bit thick. Slightly funky/footy. Not really something that works for me.

Bottle; poured a slightly cloudy color; lightish amber. Not much head. Aroma of not much; it is an old bottle so maybe that played a role. Flavor was ok; pretty sweet, well really sweet. Like sweet cereal with sugar. A bit of fruit, and dishwater. The devil made me do it.

Hard to believe that this is an American Strong Ale. Pours a straw yellow with a tall white head. Aroma of spice, Belgian yeast and lemon. Flavor is sweet-citrus (lemon) with spice and yeast. Abrupt flavor with an almost absent ending.

750ml Bottle (8.5%ABV): Aroma of Belgian yeast, coriander, lemon, spices, slight pale malts, and slight citric hops. Smells like a saison. Poured yellow/gold/slight amber in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer. Hazy. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and slightly bitter. Tastes of light pale malts, yeast, spices, coriander, pepper, slight citrus, and slight hops. Light to medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Yeast, pepper, spice, and pale malt finish is slightly dry. 8.5%ABV is totally hidden.
