COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, fruity, belgian-style trippel.
Our aptly named Christmas Ale is based on the strong beers traditionally brewed by Belgiumís trappist monasteries and has a light golden colour. Because of its high strength this beer has an intensely fruity palate. Up front it has a honeyish sweetness but the finish is dry and champagne-like. On tap until early January.

Silver medal at the World Beer Cup 2014, category "Belgian-style Tripel"

Bottle from Dan and Julie. Super light pour with a white head. Aroma is pine, sweet spice, and light fruit. Taste is alcohol, banana, and baking spice.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear light yellow with white head. Aroma of light belgian yeast and hint of coriander. Flavour is the same, mild-medium alcohol, light-medium body. Not a lot going on here for a tripel.

Has a very faint and sweet Belgian ale aroma. Appearance is a boring yellow with no head. Flavour is icky adjuncys and sweetness with very slight hop notes. Okay mouthfeel. Itís a very awkward style Belgian ale, best avoided.

On tap at St Augustineís in Vancouver. A light amber or golden ale. A bit of head. Lemon and coriander evident. A weak flavoured but drinkable ale in the Belgian tripel style. Okay.

In bottle .. this was OK. Almost two sweet for a Belgian style trippel. Very sweet - sugary, honey and a little fruit. Overall OK, but I would not buy again

Gift for my wife from a couple friends, she was nice enough to share it with me. Transparent grainy yellow pour. Thin head, heavier lacing. Sweet malty aroma. Candied fruit and and sweet malts. Not an alcohol flavour, as the ABV would indicate. Fairly good rendition of a Belgian style trippel. However, seems a bit flat on the finish. Maybe it would have been better around the winter months. Reasonable.

Brewed better than many,of their beers. Pours clear golden with some head and lacing. Aroma has slight bubblegum and a wisp of florals. Coriander or nutmeg or something in very light dose. Hard to detect much going on here. Finishes slightly sweet like sugar water. Tap at Alibi Room.

I donít think Iíll buy this stuff again but it sure gets you drunk. Foam disappears pretty quickly. Has a "peachy" taste to it.

On tap.The staff gave me a tripel, must be this. I guess the style is very very basically an imperial wit but it can be so much more than that, with dark complexities and beaming hops and so on... here it was largely a simple wit with alcohol and pear notes. Pretty good, tasted fresh on tap, the best of the five I sampled, but something tells me I wouldnít care for the bomber as much. I didnít find it dry.

Lagerboy (1296) - British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 22, 2013
Clear bright golden yellow, white foamy head disappears quickly. Fruity yeasty aroma. Fruity candy apple, Belgian yeasty taste, lightly malted, faint spices and corriander. Softly carbed, light bodied, lightly hopped. ABV, while high, is not overwelhming. Dry white vinaceous finish. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
