COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale's golden amber color only hints at its full-bodied flavor. Its sumptuous maltiness is tempered by a goodly amount of bitterness and a mouth-filling hop flavor. In order to finish our I.P.A. with a truly fresh hop bouquet, we dry hop this ale in the serving tank with both East Kent Goldings and Mount Hood hops.

On tap at the pub in Gastown. I see the ratings are crap, but I actually rather like it. Nice darker amber color, but can’t get much nose off it so far. Very crisp, refreshing and unusual hoppy character, with a bit of malt in the background. It’s an unusual hop variety it seems. Less citrus than some is about all I can say. Nice.

Some fruit in initial smell, probably apple. Pours cloudy golden with pretty good lacing and some head. Although the first smell is ok, the aftertaste is astringent, almost chemical. Not entirely pleasant. On tap at brewpub.

Ambrée légèr, très peu de mousse. Nez et goût d’houblon. Le goût n’est pas trop fort. Un peu maigre pour un IPA.

On tap at Steamworks Brewing Pub, vancouver. Too light for a real Indian Pale Ale...

Draught at the brewpub. Pours a hazy golden-orange with an average size semi-lasting frothy off-white head. Some lacing on the glass. Slightly mild aroma of grain, yeast, some light fruit and a decent amount of hops. Flavour of grain and hops along with a good amount of fruit, bready malt and yeast. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good, could be hoppier but I enjoyed it. -- Rated via Beer Buddy.

Tap @ Steamworks, Vancouver. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste grass, soap, malt and hops. A little boring and too few hops present.

Originally reviewed: 5/9/09. Came out a very deep gold with no head on top at all. All that was there was a thin ring around the edge. No lacing at all. Smells very bready and malty. Some citrus in there, but very grainy scent. Interesting. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Flavor is bitter from a nice hop presence. Piney, slightly spicy flavor. This was wonderfully drinkable. I downed this very easily. I was impressed with this. Could be tweaked a bit, but very good. I’d love to try their other offerings. Recommend.
