I thought this beer was terrific; most of the pumpkin ales Iíve tried (Elysian et al.) just donít taste like pumpkin pie, which is what I want to taste...I mean, letís face it, if youíre drinking a PUMPKIN beer, you donít want it tasting like gourds. You want it to taste like a slightly sweet, nutmeg/cinnamon/clove glass of pie, which is what this beer tastes like. Good stuff. I had a few.

GCBF. Pours a reddish brown. Aroma of pumpkin pie (duh!). Tastes much the same with medium carbonation and a light body. I liked it.

[2006 GCBF] Starts out great, tons of pumpkin pie aroma, and the first sip is wonderful. Unfortunately it goes downhill, as the last taste is a strange sweet brown ale.

Pours a dark orange-amber with a small head and a strong pumpkin & spice aroma - delicious! Tastes of dark crystal malt and lots of pumpkin spice - not a lot of pulpy vegetal notes, itís hard to taste the actual pumpkin for the spicing. Decent hopping and a dry finish. Body is very light with decent carb, making this a very sessionable pumpkin ale. I like it!

Nice pumpkin ale, good amount of spice, but not over the top. Some pie crust flavors, cinnamon, and pronounced nutmeg. Pleasant pumpkin pie finish, with subtle spicing.

Darkj goldy clear look small white rocky head dissipates. Aroma is good sweet malt fruit and pie spices. Taste is a blend of allspice-like phenolics, hops that are herbaceous-leafy and a bit of citrus. Some weizen-like clove lemon and vanilla, some baked apples and raisins. Balance and palate are right on the mark for an enjoyable pumpkin ale style.

[growler, filled at brewpub]
Herbal/spiced aroma with a good amount cinnamon and liquorice and--very inviting. Almost clear orange-brown wth some beige foam on top. Nicely balanced sweet, lotus root malt with a dry, pumpkin pie spice, and a very low, liquorice bitterness. Also a touch of sourness. Medium to light body, medium carbonation, slight tang in the finish. Very good.

GCBF 2010. Dark orange amber. Rich spicy pumpkin aroma, heaps of nutmeg, cinnamon, a little clove. Cakey, bready, spicy palate. The best of the pumpkin brews at the fest, and the best Iíve had in a while.

Iím usually this beerís biggest fan and am the only person I know who can drink two at a time. I really enjoy it and try to drink a pint at the pub every year. It tastes to me like liquid pumpkin pie, only better. Nicely spiced, and complex.
