On tap.Something seriously wrong with this one, which I sampled at the brewpub. The glue aroma and flavour mixed with banana made this really taste like artificial flavour was added, though it may not be the case, could just be a screw-up with this batch. But no way was the beer I had today an 87 percentile heffe, the main characteristic was glue. My fellow patrons agreed without any prodding. Chlorophenol overload!

Draft at Banana Leaf, Vancouver. Traditional Bavarian style hef, reminded me a fair bit of Weihenstephaner’s. That said, pours a slightly cloudy golden color, with minimal aroma, medium body, finish is sweet, heavy on the esters. Not outstanding or even that original, but definitely not bad.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy mango color with a trim -off white head. Stinks of coriander and orange peel. Can’t say I’m a fan of the yeast involved. Bleh.

Hazy gold, bright white cap. Decent banana, very good spice, rotting wood, coriander, cinnamon, wheat? This is different and it works. Aroma: wheat, coriander, spice (pumpkin?), banana that is actually good. Heavily carbonated, nice zip and lingering spices.

A well done wheat beer. Sweet and citrusy with some pleasant spicy notes. Tight carbonation on the first taste across the palate - interesting because there wasn’t much of a head at all on my taster at the BC brewery. Cloudy yellow.

Cask@Steamworks Brewery Brewpub, Vancouver. Cloudy golden beer with a yeasty and lemon peal aroma. The flavour is deeply dry, citric and mildly yeasty. Overall a nice german wheat beer.
