500 ml can from Real Canadian Liquorstore, served in a goblet. Pours a light golden straw color with light and short-lived carbonation and a fluffy, milky head that retreats to leave thin lace islands. Aroma is primarily a clean herbal, green noble hop and lightly honeyed grain profile, while the flavor is a mildly bitter, crackery malt with orange and lemon zest/marmalade, and the sip finishes with a herbal, peppery touch. Thin-bodied, and the bitterness only lasts for the briefest of moments. Steam Works definitely has a lock on good pilsner flavor, and it’s eminently quaffable at a pleasing price.

draft sample. Pours a very pale straw color. Tiny head, no lacing. Nose is very clean, some faint fresh hops, some kind of citrus lemonadey thing. Palate is very clean, mild carbonation, a little bland. This beer is okay.

Clear yellow of color with a foamy white head. An aroma of vegetables, sweets, hay, fruity and wet paper. A flavor of malt, bread, wet paper, hops and bitter.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2016 Had a different complexity of tastes and you could tell it was crafted rather then the regular Canadian lagers. I liked it but thought their pale ale was better.

Slightly hazy pale straw color with some nice activity. Thick, almost creamy, white 3 finger head lasting around 10 minutes with some strong legs. Aromas and flavors of citrus, grains, fruits, floral and herbal spices (saaz). Well intensified crisp taste of slight lemony and orange sweetness with a pleasant floral and earthy bitterness feel. Very light body with prickly carbonation. Balanced finish ending with a bitter clove spiciness and a strong grassy feel on the tongue. Overall : Good craft; nice flavors, well intensified, but lacking some freshness and a little too thin.

Aroma is clove, citrus, sulphur and slight tart. Taste is light malts, grain and some clove. Pretty shallow taste overall. Appearance is a clear gold with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Fabulous Pilsner with a craft style. I’m a lover of good soft Czech pils rather than the highly crispy German pils. This beer has the best elements of Kozel with its soft smooth mouthfeel and an expertly crafted and balanced hop mix. Head is weak on the pour. Colour is very light. Nose is candy. Taste is first sweet and fruity giving way to a great bitterness which isn’t overpowering. Could drink this all night long.

The Sampler, Brooklyn can: pours light golden with a white head. Aroma is bread and grass. Taste is lightly bitter with a nice pale malt backbone. Extremely clean and drinkable. Very good pils.

500ml can from somewhere or another. Very poor head and body for a pilsner, I should be seeing a hugely appetizing yellow and lemon meringue head and there ain’t none o’ that on this. The aroma is typical lager, a light cardboard with hints of lemon, again nothing resembling a proper pilsner. Flavour has some nice lemon hints, notes of citrus, sugar; but not a medley or even an orchestra (dare I say it) of flavours that make you respect this beer with the style. Watery finish. This is a total miss in the pilsner department, and would be a bad lager at best. Time to raise the bar a litle, Steamworks.

Can sample at a tasting. Thanks Stas. Aroma of fruity hops, grains, honey and floral. Sweetish, light maltiness, notes of grass and biscuits with herbal bittterness. Ligh-bodied, dry, soft carbonation. Nice.
