50cl can from Berlin Braufest 2015. BB 24/05/2015.

Clean, fresh, hoppy, with a good balance between sweet straw and mineral/steel notes. Good bitterness makes this incredibly drinkable. More hopped than European counterparts, but right in line with the best of the american pilsner revival styles. Reminiscent of Scrimshaw (North Coast). Had this thrice this week at the brewery in Vancouver intermixed in a bunch of "flights". A standout!

Can. Clear pale yellow. Decent lacing. No surprises. Well executed. Light paper on nose. Wet grain. Crisp on the palate.

(Rating #6120)

50 cl can, Calgary, AB, Canada via Coop. Pale yellow, thin head. Much more interesting aroma than I anticipated, floral with some resin. Sharp pepper flavour, then immediate lemon and a long citrus finish.

This pours a pale, straw gold underneath a thin white head. It has a nice herbal and citrus aroma and flavour with a slight amount of bitterness and quite a pleasant finish. I don’t drink a lot of pilsners these days, but this is definitely amongst the best I’ve had recently. I had a couple of Heinekens earlier tonight at an event with a limited beer selection, and Steamorks outclasses it.

Pours clear pale straw with one finger of loose white head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is light sweet crackery malt, citrus, grassy and herbal hops. (6/10) Taste is moderate sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Light body, moderate carbonation, dry bitter finish. (3/5) Not bad. I mean, no pilsener is ever going to be great, that’s a given - but this is OK. For a fizzy yellow beer. Pleasant citrus and herbal hops on the front end, and a not-insignificant bitterness (can says 30 IBU) on the finish. Worth a try. (14/20)

Growler from good ’ol Piggly Wiggly. Pours clear pale yellow with thin, fizzy white head. Aroma is pilsner malt, faint wheat, and some yeast esters. Flavor is smooth, light malt base with very faint hops, and some light fruity yeast esters. light body and light/medium carbonation.

From a growler. Pours very clear light gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like pale malts, light corn sweetness, straw, grassy, light lemon. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky corn, sweet lemon, straw, bready malt.
