After wandering Hastings with a big SLR camera slung around my neck for 20 minutes, apparently begging for a mugging, I finally sat down for some pints seconds after the bar opened. I wish I would have started with a different beer. Bright red amber, clean white cap and ok lacing. Cream Soda hits my nose first, turns more into raspberry later on.. ok smell I guess. Taste... candy, alcohol, odd bitterness - is it the bitterness giving this taste? Has a menthol feel on my breath, sour, weak raspberry, euro grain, meh. Medicinal hops. Ouch.

The most interesting beer in the taster. A brilliant dark red color with a pleasant raspberry aroma. Tight carbonation, wonderful dry raspberry flavor. A very refreshing and pleasant beer.

Served at Steamworks in a tulip. Cherry color with no discernible head. Aroma is light malt and raspberry cough syrup. Taste is sweet berry malt, boozy alcohol with an astringent finish. Crisp and smooth body and finish.

On tap at Steamworks. Strangely enough, it tasted like raspberry. There was a definite dry red wine overtone to this beer that I liked. This beer has a couple of extra dimensions: it mixes well with the Witbier and really well with the Coal Porter. I recommend asking for tasters of both these combinations. I think I liked the Frambozen/Porter mixture best of all.

Raspberry color with a thin head. Aroma is a sweet raspberry, candy like, light alcohol sweetness. Taste is raspberry candy, very sweet but without a super strong raspberry taste to it that is overwhelming but it’s there.

Was not overly impressed with this one. Kind of sweet, not quite to the point of being cloying, but just doesnt have a really pleasant mouthfeel. Lots of fruit sweetness, a bit of tartness at times, but it is all fruit without a substantial malt backbone.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 yarry (497) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 22, 2007
Sampled on tap at local brewery.
Deeper red then most raspberry beers. Smells like a fruit zinfandel such as boones. Tastes like a fruit zinfandel as well with a boozy kick. More like a strong cider with raspberry notes.
