Plenty of British Crystal malt in the grist lends this ale its rich color, its caramel maltiness, and adds the occasional whiff of toffee to the nose. An addition of American and German hops to the kettle at the end of the boil is used to suffuse our Pale Ale with a gently spicy hop finish.

Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, citrus and tart. Taste is sweet light malts, passion fruit, grapefruit, and light sweet malts. Finishes with a nice malt/hop balance. Smooth execution. Not overly complex but enjoyable. Appearance is a clear orange with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

500ml Dose. Hellgelbes Bier mit leichtem Orangeton. Hoher fester Schaum. Schönes frisches Aroma nach Mandarine und Grapefruit, Basilikum und Zitronenschale. Antrunk unreife Honigmelone und Citrus. Dann sehr kräuterig, Hopfen und etwas Pinie. Der Geschmack ist vollmundig und lange anhaltend. Ein sehr frisches und gelungenes Pale Ale.

Hazy dark straw color, almost golden with an orange hue, and some explosive subtle activity. Lightly creamy white half a finger head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, with strong legs. Aromas of citrus, caramel biscuity feel, and fresh floral spices. Flavors of quality grains, bitter citrus with a lemon and lime feel, a hint of coriander, and really sharp herbal and floral hops. Highly grassy, low on sugar, but highly sour. Smooth slick light to medium body with perfect amount of carbonation. Strong and long finish, ending with a highly spicy and astringent citrus tongue coat, thick grassy feel with a hint of sweet roasted malt. Overall a good craft boosting complex tasty favors with an overly strong bitter citrus feel. Good freshness but a little vinous and boozy. Promising beer with a good look and body while missing some balance.

Appearance: the foam waves a quick “hello” and then dashes underground into evening golden arms of wheat and cold amber. Aroma: A neck of perfumes ringed with pine needles and ice. Bitter apples and unripened pears scowl from a distance. Paper wrapped doughy grain bread hums a wholesome tune beneath. Taste: Only a tinge, or afterthought, of hop bitterness. There is a sweet, even numbing, tingle in the aftertaste preceded by orange slices powered in a thin layer of icing sugar. The orange “lemonizes” slightly, even grows a thin grapefruit rind skin. After twenty minutes smooth, if shy, pineapple slips into the picnic brunch. Mouthfeel: Unfortunately the foundation is a bit waterlogged, though it does not detract from the aromatics and lilting sweet citrus taste. Carbonation is near non-existent, and yet no flatness ruins the feel. Final Thoughts: Most memorable is the lightly electrifying, sugar tongue sparks from the aftertaste. The leather rimmed perfume-orange bouquet is also difficult to forget.

500 ml can from Real Canadian Liquorstore, served in a goblet. Pours a reddish-golden hue with light, fine carbonation and a milky head, leaving thin lace rings. Nose proves light, bright, and fresh, with lemon, lime and grapefruit, whiffs of tropicals, and light buttery toast; on the tongue, the warm toasty elements emerge to match the pace of the soft citrus. A little thick, and the citrus lingers briefly. A pleasant and very accessible pale ale that feels a lot like an ISA in all aspects but its 5.2% ABV.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2016 Bottle @ home. Pours with a light orange colour, small white rocky head. Aroma is medium malty, with notes of bread and cereal, slightly hoppy, with notes of herbs and grass; modern hops in a traditional style; good but a little faint. Taste is medium sweet, slightly bitter, slightly sour, balanced and elegant. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. A good modern take on a traditional style.
