Skyview (2641), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 19, 2008 Sampled during Cellar’s Wine & Spirits beer tasting and shared by BDR. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some brown sugar and grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of caramel bread malt, brown sugar and a touch of pear. Finish is semi-sweet very little bitterness with a light malt aftertaste.
islay (366), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jun 25, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pleasant but simple, malty aroma features caramel, peach, yellow plum, red apple, and grape scents with a modicum of dryness. Pours an effervescent, clear copper with a moderate amount of short lasting, fluffy, beige head. Caramel, fruit (especially apple), brown sugar, and brownies flavors. Light body. Soft, watery, and insubstantial in the palate. Steamworks Steam Engine Lager isn’t bad for what it is, but what it is isn’t exactly going to blow anybody away. AmEricanbrew (816), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Jun 16, 2008 Clear amber with a frothy 2" head that lingers. Nice caramel malty sweet aroma with a whiff of spicy hops. Smooth medium body. Taste mirrors aroma with caramel malts and a lightly bitter spicy hop finish. Not too bad. VitaminR (239), USA May 24, 2008 Sweet molasseses cinnamon raisin nose. Medium soapy head, brilliant amber color. Clean raisin sweetness, with decent spicy hop bitterness, good balance. Very effervescent, rich yet clean crisp finish. A solid easy drinker with some class. Rogueone (291), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA May 12, 2008 Thanks Mark for sharing: pours a clear amber with minimal lacing. Aroma of brown sugar and rum-soaked raisin. Tastes of caramel malt and brown sugar. Surprisingly, for the low alcohol content of this beer, alcohol was present in the finish.
