Most unlikely collaboration ever?! Steel City visited Fullers to brew this pale, low gravity ale, with 60IBU and a shedload of hops. With Steel City Brewing being renowned for their love of hops, it comes as no surprise that Steel is an intensely hoppy beer using a mix of hops from around the world with Magnum, Calypso, Wakatu and Motueka being utilised plus a hop so new it doesnít have a name as yet, just a number! Steel is blonde in colour using mainly lager malts but delivers the aroma of tropical fruits with a firm bitterness, all in a beer with an ABV of just 3.5%.

Stern golden with a decent white capped head. Floral and clinical hop notes, odd and mealy. Similar firmness to the bitter hoppatude here. Odd pineapple tropical fruit blend but fairly diluted. Sweetness is a bit thin towards the finish, cooling linger. Surprised when I saw the ABV, bonus points.

Cask conditioned handpump White Horse Soho London 17/02/14. A golden coloured beer with a white head and lace. Pretty hoppy as youíd expect but thereís an unwelcome and unexpected sweetness from somewhere. Spicy citrus notes. Has a papery edge a la low ABV beer. Sharp tangerine in nose. A beer with good bits and not so good bits.

Cask at Haymarket. Clear golden yellow, thin white head. Nice hop aromas, floral and grapefruit. Taste has more, with a sweet caramel biscuit note coming through. Bit thin on the finish, but very good for the strength.

Dark gold with a fluffy fine white head, floral, grassy and faintly tropical fruit hops on the nose, initially watery, then a burst of dry and grapefruity bitterness. Some golden malt, although still a bit watery.

Cask at the Clachan. It pours clear golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is soft, floral, citrus, straw and a touch of sweetness. The taste is crisp, bitter, straw, floral, grassy and a good deal of pithy citrus with a very dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Nice crisp bitterness to it. A very nice hopped-up session ale.

Cask at The Abbott Cook in Reading. This is a cracking beer for the abv. Zesty hops and a long bitter finish.
