Steel Reserve 211 6% (Steel Six) has a medium, white head, a clear, golden, bubbly appearance, and very thin lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is faint, but one gets sweet grain, and the flavor is also of sweet grain, slight hops, and nothing off or strange. There is a background hop bitterness to even out a potentially overly sweet malt presentation. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Steel Six finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and highly drinkable. This is a strong, competitive entry in the standard malt liquor category. RJT

This is the only version readily available where I grew up. Used to buy this stuff by the 12-pack back in college. Pours dark gold with a huge white head. Aroma is stale corn and fusel alcohols. Taste is chemical and corn. At least it packs a punch and is dirt cheap.

This is the 6% version and I use it to clean the palate between tastings. Itís fairly bland with no overpowering flavors , but the slight maltiness is discernible coupled with a slight bitterness. At 50 cents a can itís a good quaffing beer - nothing really wrong with it, nor great either. Light / medium mouthfeel with a somewhat crisp finish that lacks hop flavor.

Tasted on 10/10/13 from a 24oz can, another high quality rating from the gas station. Pours clear golden with a thick, but quickly dissipating white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is corny cereal malt with some bread and an extremely light green hoppiness. The flavor is really all malt with corn, cereal, and bread. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a short malty finish. I am glad that the select hops added extra gravity to this 6% monster.

Seeing as I live right off a lake in North Carolina, and itís summer time, Iím keenly aware of the smell of mosquito repellent. And, I kid you not, this beer smells and tastes like they brewed it from mosquito repellent. And it might be cheaper, too...

3/12/13. 24oz can from a terrifying liquor store in GA where I did not belong. OT-LOL likka domination. Drank from the can like man. Donít know the stupid appearance, assholes. How did I miss this tick for so long? I always thought I ticked all this shit but then BOOM, 6%. Who even knew there were different versions? And why? Theyíre all the same price, so why buy the lesser alcohol %? Youíre only buying this random garbage to get fucked up fo cheeps. Anyway, I drank 2 big cans of Schlitz VSL before this, and this smells and tastes lighter and slightly less like random garbage. Bleh.

Can. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates immediately to the edges. Aroma has lots of sweet malts with some sweet corn and a touch of booze. Flavor has sweet grains with a note of stale corn and just a bit of booze.
