1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Tasted on 10/10/13 from a 24oz can, another high quality rating from the gas station. Pours clear golden with a thick, but quickly dissipating white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is corny cereal malt with some bread and an extremely light green hoppiness. The flavor is really all malt with corn, cereal, and bread. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a short malty finish. I am glad that the select hops added extra gravity to this 6% monster.

Corn, grain aroma.
Sweet corn, honey, grain malt taste.

1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
24 ounce can of goodness. Stale corn malt and straw aroma. Medium yellow with moderate head. Moderately sweet corn, barley malt, and very lightly bitter hay flavor. Decent body. So.... a 6% malt liquor that tastes like a pale lager? How do they do it?

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Can. Light golden pour with a white head that dissipated quickly. Grain, corn syrup, fish. Good carbonation. Light body for a 6%. Grainy. Type that gives a headache.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
From the 24 fl. oz. can. Served ice cold. Yellow and heady. The aroma is weak but I pick up a little grain, corn, and a hint of grass. Thin watery body. The taste brings out a little sweet bread and biscuit and the hop bitterness tends to come forward a bit more in the flavor on the tail end. I like the 8% common version better. At least it has more oomph to it.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This should not be a separate rating, but RB has declared it so. For some reason the 6% version is all that is sold in Iowa. Pours a light gold color with a medium white head that fades quickly. Aroma is corn and hints of dough. Flavors of corn and slight off flavors of diesel are present in the finish. Sweet and boozy, it is better than a lot of macro pale lagers. Light and easy drinking.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Refreshing, smooth & malty, and better than the 8%. Grainy taste & flavor with a golden color and a head that is rarely seen outside of macro lagers, beautiful! Refreshing.

1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
This is a rating I did over six years ago, this was a time before Malt Liquor was paid much attention on this website. Steel Reserve’s 6% abv variant was not recognized as a separate entry at that time, so now I’m entering my 8.1% variant entry while I use this space to enter my originally entered rating of the 6% beer. Please excuse the brashness of the rating as it is hardly a reflection of how I have come to rate beer, alas... this beer & this rating are frozen in time... at time where I was camping next to a farm pond, chillen...
This is a light golden color, with a fluffy white head that goes away quickly. This smells of corn & grain and tastes very much like that as well. The taste is not as overly sweet as many malt liquor/high gravity lagers are. In fact this is plesantly dry, however this is ruined by the strong alcohol presence. Generally speaking it’s not great.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is a gas station beer. You pick one of these up when you get done filling your car up. It has one job, take the edge off of the day and it does the trick. It will never be confused with a craft beer, but it is an ok Malt Liquor. NOt as good as a mickey’s or Olde E, but not bad. An ok color minimal aroma and a hidden alcohol kick.

Can during RBSG. From notes. Thanks to homer for this whalez. Corn, grain, green apple and cotton candy. It’s like the "lite" version of steel!

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured from tallboy to glass. Golden straw hue eith fizzy white head that settled. Aroma is metallic, straw, sulphur, slight medicinal. Mouthfeel is decent doth a medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry throughout with a slight hop bitterness following and sulphur in the finish. Overall this is not a very good brew.
