1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Tasted on 10/10/13 from a 24oz can, another high quality rating from the gas station. Pours clear golden with a thick, but quickly dissipating white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is corny cereal malt with some bread and an extremely light green hoppiness. The flavor is really all malt with corn, cereal, and bread. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a short malty finish. I am glad that the select hops added extra gravity to this 6% monster.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a clear yellow color with a fast rising carbonation. The head was bubbly and it dissipated within seconds. There wasn’t any lacing.
The smell had a skunky/aged grassy and somewhat with a tinny sort of metallic aroma coming about.
The taste was sweet, slightly bitter skunky and slightly grassy / tinny.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with not much of sessionability about this one due to the fact that this is just too unbalanced.
Overall, I didn’t really care for this malt liquor.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can during RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting at Schlafly Tap Room thanks to Homer321. Straw yellow with off-white head. Aromas of skunk, corn. Tastes of skunk, booze, corn. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
I have mixed feelings about this. It is less terrible than regular Steel Reserve but gets you less fucked up. It is sort of oddly flavorless in such a way that it is just kind of a nondescript mix of yeast byproducts one of which is alcohol and there is not enough of that. Rare though so that’s the shit.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Can @ RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours a light yellow appearance with a foamy white head. Spritzy lemon, bland grainy aroma. Twangy, lemon, corny flavor. Not all that hard to drink.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tall boy 24ozer I had to drive to South Carolina to get this whæl. Pours a crystal clear yellow with a white head that dies immediately. Nose is fruity, mostly apple. Taste is nondescript and non offensive. Pretty nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can share thanks to homer. Pours golden and delicous. Smell of corn and malt. Taste is light, refreshing, like lightly flavored water. Nice drinker. I can taste the extra gravity from the hops, awesome.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can share thanks to Homer321. Pours a crystal clear golden yellow with large white head. Lightly sweet malt, adjunct aroma. Seems like they have added extra malted barley and select hops for extra gravity. Semi sweet, smooth, light boost, crisp.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Steel Reserve 211 6% (Steel Six) has a medium, white head, a clear, golden, bubbly appearance, and very thin lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is faint, but one gets sweet grain, and the flavor is also of sweet grain, slight hops, and nothing off or strange. There is a background hop bitterness to even out a potentially overly sweet malt presentation. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Steel Six finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and highly drinkable. This is a strong, competitive entry in the standard malt liquor category. RJT

0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
This is the only version readily available where I grew up. Used to buy this stuff by the 12-pack back in college. Pours dark gold with a huge white head. Aroma is stale corn and fusel alcohols. Taste is chemical and corn. At least it packs a punch and is dirt cheap.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is the 6% version and I use it to clean the palate between tastings. It’s fairly bland with no overpowering flavors , but the slight maltiness is discernible coupled with a slight bitterness. At 50 cents a can it’s a good quaffing beer - nothing really wrong with it, nor great either. Light / medium mouthfeel with a somewhat crisp finish that lacks hop flavor.
