3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jzzbassman (1364) - New Albany, Mississippi, USA - NOV 6, 2011
Bottle courtesy of Atom. Bottle pours almost black with a thin tan head. THe aroma is malty, with cookie dough, chocolate, and slight coffee presence. Flavor hampered by being drank back to back with the Marshal Zhukov, but this is a different beast. Drinkable, with the oats giving it an easy drinking finish. Nice stout indeed.

Bomber pours dark brown/black with a medium tan head. Aroma has an overall musk to it with chocolate, molasses, and coffee. Taste of bitter chocolate, coffee, oats forsure, dark malts, and slight bitterness on the finish. Very well put together, love it!

Bomber. Rich, roasted chocolate malt and coffee aromas. Intensely dark brown color with a smooth, short, off-white head. Taste is sweet with a slightly bitter finish. Light carbonation. Flavors of coffee, chocolate malts, oat, and piney hops.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kbutler1 (1275) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Draft. Pours a dark black/black color with a slight tan head. Light roasty aroma in the nose, molasses, and a touch of leather. Slight hops. Medium mouthfeel. Starts with a slight bitter roast flavor and a little sweet dark fruit and then moves to a medium hoppy floral bitterness. Pretty easy drinking. Slight lace. No notes of alcohol. Not sure I would classify this as a stout.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Guerde (1077) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - OCT 7, 2011
(bottle) Pours jet black with a very large tan head that leaves sheets of lacing on the glass. Aroma is filled with dark roasted barley, dark chocolate, dark fruits (slightly tart), and some coffee. Smells like a brownie the more it warms up. Flavor tastes pretty much like a spot-on clone of Dark Horse’s Special Reserve Black Bier, with a boatload of dark roasted malt, french roast coffee, and dark chocolate, with some sweetness to balance the bold roasted flavors. Some salt. There’s a faint bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little less full than I had expected, but it still remains silky. This is quite a good beer. Well done, Steel Toe.

Bottle. Creamy dark black pour, light cookie colored head and an aroma of roasted malts. Flavor is also creamy roasted malts, lactose like sweetness, dark chocolate and finishes a little bitter on the aftertaste. Decent @ $5/bomber.

Bottle to snifter. Pours dark brown black with a tight soapy tan head that fades to a collar ( pour looks like many Imperials). Aroma is big roasted malt with coffee and chocolate soy scents. Taste is roasted malt and coffee with a milky bitter chocolate and some rye bread and soy. Palate is full and bitter with a slick chaulky dry finish. Pretty awesome stout! Really gets me excited for Imperial versions!

Autumn Brew Review 2011. Black color with a medium head. Moderate coffee aroma. Big milky and coffee laden flavor, even though this isn’t a breakfast stout. Light roasted barley character. Medium to light body. Alcohol didn’t show up at all, even at 7%.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Skyview (5031) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 2, 2011
Sampled on draught at the brewery tap room in St Louis Park, MN. Pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with an average tan head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind a beige film on glass edge and a thin off-white ring. Aroma of roasted dark malt, some chocolate malt, a hint of anise, light coffee and floral hops. Taste is medium to full bodied, with complex flavors of chocolate and black malt, some black licorice, oatmeal, and floral hops. Finish is quite smooth with some chocolate/oatmeal malt aftertaste along with some mild bitterness.
