Nice black pour with foamy dark tan head. Aroma is earthy and quite chocolatey. Taste is rather sweet but not overly so. Lots of sweet chocolate, caramel, a little roasted malt and just a hint of bitter hops. Very easy drinking and quite tasty, even more so as it warms up.

Tap - small foamy tan head, black color, roasty coffee aroma and flavor, creamy texture, not bad for a stout

Growler into tulip. Minneapolis.
Appearance: dark black with tan head. Good retention. Lacing in the glass.
Aroma: chocolate milk, coffee, caramel, alcohol.
Taste: slightly bitter, but very smooth. Nice.
Palate: medium body, very smooth an daily texture. Shorter finish.
Overall: a very drinkable beer. Nice flavor and texture. Lacks some depth, and richness. A little too short on the finish. Still very nice

3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolate and coffee tones
Some moderate bitterness which adds to the flavor
Not the most inventive of all the beers at steel toe
Go for a Douglas or a provider!

Tap poured at Pizza Luce Hopkins. Dark black ale with an aggressive roasted coffee aroma. Clings well to the glass and visually is the perfect winter accompaniment. Taste is heavy bitter but slight undertone of chocolate. Aftertaste is pretty coffee-centric but overall a pretty good local brew. Some might say a dissent option.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: A dirty stout with a bit of many things that donít all work together.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed a few months after receiving it from oakbluff, thanks a lot Scott.
The look: Very dark brown (near black) body topped by a small tan head.
In long: Low-intensity nose of roasted chestnuts, mocha chocolate bar and earthy notes. Body size is medium, texture is a bit juicy/oily for the style, medium carbonation. Taste is a bit strange. Basic elements of roast, mocha coffee, roasted chestnuts chocolate and others clash with a weird acidity and also a strong sensation of dirt/earth that turns into dirty tobacco in the finish. That beer really feels dirty-earthy. Alcohol is more apparent than it should be in a 7% beer. Not an offensive beer but not something I need to drink again. Bomber. Black with a foamy light brown head. Intense roasted malts, light coffee, and a light smokiness. Light sweetness with a smokey bitterness. Heavier body with a creamy feel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rather enjoyable--in fact, it stood out against a backdrop of other typical-range craft beers. Very dark, good roasted nose, rich chocolate flavors with nothing off-putting. Good dry, low-hops profile. Very drinkable. And at $4.99 for a bomber, this is very good value. Bottle.

bottle opened at the bottel share, a fogettable lame regular stout that I think sat around too long

Growler and on tap at the Brewery. If my wife whom usually only drinks the Blonde and Kolsch and mass produce lager liked it then it must be a good beer.

650 ml bottle courtesy of kbutler. Thanks. Pours a black-brown color with a small tan head that has good retention. The aroma is mild and features raisins, burnt grains, mocha and musty soil. The flavor is much more complex than the nose; I get dark fruits, burnt toast, chestnuts, bitter walnuts, dark chocolate, a bit of spice and earthy hops. The palate is full, smooth and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes medium in duration and dry with lingering spice. Overall: The complete lack of any sweetness is a welcome change. Very tasty ale, much enjoyed.
