COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and complex from a tremendous amount of roasted malts, yet smooth and rich from the addition of oats. Dissent has its own opinion of what a dark beer should be.

Draft at brewery. Nice deep and dark the only thing lacking was the palate. For a stout it was not as creamy as I prefer.

Bomber. Black with a foamy light brown head. Intense roasted malts, light coffee, and a light smokiness. Light sweetness with a smokey bitterness. Heavier body with a creamy feel.

Tasted out of a bomber. Poured a dark as night color with a amber head. Heavy roasted malt aroma, and a great dark malt hop aroma.

Tasted from a bomber. It poured an opaque brown with a lasting, frothy, light brown head and minimal lacing. Had a pungent aroma of roasted malt and coco. Taste of roasted malt with a hint of liquorice.

Pour is black as night. Thanks to the Mill Town Mashers for this by the way! Smell is coffee, cocoa, burnt toast, and loads of malt. Taste is bready and toasty, with a surprisingly strong oat presence. A lingering bitterness akin to baking chocolate rounds out the finish. Very good.

Tap poured at Pizza Luce Hopkins. Dark black ale with an aggressive roasted coffee aroma. Clings well to the glass and visually is the perfect winter accompaniment. Taste is heavy bitter but slight undertone of chocolate. Aftertaste is pretty coffee-centric but overall a pretty good local brew. Some might say a dissent option.

Growler into tulip. Minneapolis. Appearance: dark black with tan head. Good retention. Lacing in the glass. Aroma: chocolate milk, coffee, caramel, alcohol. Taste: slightly bitter, but very smooth. Nice. Palate: medium body, very smooth an daily texture. Shorter finish. Overall: a very drinkable beer. Nice flavor and texture. Lacks some depth, and richness. A little too short on the finish. Still very nice

Dark pour with a medium tan head. Very roasty coffee and chocolate aroma, but not a lit of complexity or depth. Thick palate and a strong bitter aftertaste. Very good beer.

Nice black pour with foamy dark tan head. Aroma is earthy and quite chocolatey. Taste is rather sweet but not overly so. Lots of sweet chocolate, caramel, a little roasted malt and just a hint of bitter hops. Very easy drinking and quite tasty, even more so as it warms up.

On tap from Republic, MN. Pours rich dark brown with short mocha colored head, less than half a finger. Opaque red around the corners of the glass. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, and oats. A bit on the sweeter side. An excellent palate, very smooth and a bit oily. Warms up the soul on a cold winter day.
