3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolate and coffee tones
Some moderate bitterness which adds to the flavor
Not the most inventive of all the beers at steel toe
Go for a Douglas or a provider!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a mocha brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has chalky dark grains with touches of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor has lots if dark grains and roasted malts with touches of molasses, bitter chocolate and a hint of pine.

Keg @ Happy Gnome. Brown with a small head. Nose of burnt brown sugar, cream, roasted nuts. Ash. Nice and full. Taste is wonderfully creamy, substantial. Lactose, rocky road fudge. Slightly peppery hops. Some burnt espresso. Medium body, supple and a bit oily. Wow. Credit where itís due. Very nice.

Bomber from Four Firkins. Pours black with an tan head. Aroma has molasses, chocolate and caramel. Taste is of sweet caramel, bittersweet bakers chocolate, some roast and a nice blend of oatmeal. Medium bodied and smooth, and nicely bitter-sweet. This is a solid effort, where Iíll look for more from that brewery. 14.1

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the brewery. The aroma is of coffee and dark roast. Of course, this is a dark-colored beer. This all carries to the drink. Pure coffee, mostly, and quite yummy. Pass the sugar. (#5657, 8/28/2014)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Saturday night stout! Pour is almost black, with a scant tan head thatís gone in a flash. Aromas of coffee, roast, chocolate, floral hops. Taste is bitter and off dry. Flavors of dark dry chocolate, lightly roasted coffee, some bittering hops. Slightly silky. This is pretty nice. A large sized dry chocolate note. Slight tinge of alcohol. Finished like a silky black dildo, dry with a nice roast. Very decent.

This is a very tasty dark ale. Not as much hops as I would have like but thatís not the style anyways. Very smooth and delicious!

Bottle thanks to Rob. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong roast, coffee bean, oak. Medium mouthfeel with roast, coffee, dark chocolate. Good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Dark pour, nearly black. Roasty, milk chocolate, grainy, semisweet aroma. Roastiness is much lighter in the flavor, chocolate malt, husky, mild bitterness in the finish.
