Tap at Steel Toe. Dark murky amber pour with a frothy light beige head. Big roasted malts and citrus hops on the aroma. Full palate. Bold hops in the taste but still a pretty easy drinker. Great full-flavored brew.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks to Caleb! Dark black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of nice pine, spice, hints of vanilla, nice dark fruit into roast, coffee notes, slight touch of spruce or mint as well. Taste is a mix of spruce, pine, grass into some spice, earth into chocolate, roast, some coffee, finishing fairly bitter, dry.

5/4/13. 22oz bomber thanks to CLe to the var, bitches! Darl brown pour with a nice khaki tan head. Nice hop aroma, pine as aforementioned, but also with a distinct fruitiness touching on Fruity Pebbles. Big hop flavor, a good bitterness as well, with big doses of pine, fruitiness, citrus, and a touch of roasted malts. Tasty!

Bomber thanks to Caleb. Pours a pure black color with a large beige head. A sweet nose of pine and light chocolates. The flavor leans toward the darker porter side with roast, dry chocolate and ash, caramel, light bitter pine and citrus. Very flavorful.

Draft at the brewery. This has an aroma of oil, almost. Drinks like many of the others among this new breed of "black IPAs," a trend I don’t particularly love. Yet another nice thick porter base, thrown off balance with an assertive pine oil finish. That sounds worse than it is ... this is still good. (#5659, 8/28/2014)

Dark brown color with a very thin head. Perfume and pine-laden aroma. Very piney flavor. Some bergamot and roasted barley. Moderate to strong bitterness. Dry finish. Full body.

Bomber. A very welcome hop aspect greets the nose right away. Fully opaque body. Hops do not come through in the flavor. Much drier than promised by the aroma. Unique flavor. Dry chocolate. Almost white head. Really good when it warms.

On tap at the brewpub, nice dark cola color with a frothy tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is a lot of citrusy hops with some malty roast. Taste is some resin, nice pungent hops, little malt backbone, big bitter finish, great for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark black pour, lasting lacing and an aroma of spruce and roasty malt. Flavor is also more roasty dark malt, roasty herbal spruce and finished very earthy/peaty. $5 a bomber? Totally worth it.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Near black in colour with moderate carbonation. Fairly herbal on the nose with notes of juniper and black licorice mixing with the roast and pale malt elements. The strong herbal influence continues on in the mouth as well, mixing with milk chocolate, ash, evergreen, and pale malt. Moderate bitterness. Solid overall.
