3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at brewery. St. Louis Park.
Pours burgundy in color. Relatively transparent. zero head.
Aroma is pretty nice. Bourbon aroma is strong. Oak barrels. Sweet aroma. Heavy toffee. Alcohol. A little grainy as it warms.
Taste is a little sweet, but I would still call this dry. Bitterness in the finish.
Body is heavy. Rich texture. Long finish-heavy on alcohol.
The aroma is the winner for this beer. The taste is a bit disappointing. Seems like they took an okay beer, and did a great job barrel aging it.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle [from trade with mista] @ home. Opaque brownish color, light brown head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, huge whiskey, firm but suitable vanilla, slightly alcoholic and pretty bitter. Wow, intens but very very good! Taste malts, whiskey, lightly alcohol, slightly sweet-bitter initially, whiskey bitter with some vanilla sweetness thereafter and wood. Fantastic flavor, great mouthfeel, a bit sticky texture. Oh yes I love this beer! Superb!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at tasting. Pours brown caramel color. Strong caramel, toffee, and booze aroma. Taste the same...a little hot with the alcohol but goid finish. Good Barleywine.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle... Murky brown pour with no head. The aroma is a collage of caramel, rye whiskey, oak and damp leather. Full-bodied, but a bit watery with lazy carbonation. The flavor is a nicely balanced pairing of caramelized malts and rye whisky. Neither terribly sweet nor overly boozy. Nice, warming, moderately sweet, caramel and toffee finish. Bottle courtesy of Bvery!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, who knows how old. pour is a murky brown orange mix that looks like a barley wine, nose is heavy on the barrel with good amounts of vanilla that I find enjoyable. After a few years this is still a sweet beer, but its satisfying in its depth and makes for a real treat.
