3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle of batch 2 shared by atom. Cola brown in color with no visible head. Caramely sweet aroma. Slight whiskey character. Taste nice. Lots of toffee and caramel, slight vanilla, and a little bit of heat on the finish. The rye is subtle. I can dig this, but I like before the dawn much better.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle shared by jcwatts on a totally uneventful tasting night, nothing much happened huh John??? Poured a slight muddy brown with a small tight foamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, notes of caramel, molasses, toffee, dry vanilla candy, some oak, and booze. Syrupy body that is big and bold with softer carbonation, heat and a lingering aftertaste. Flavor is the same as the aroma. This is a good beer, but what would one expect it is from Mighty Minnesota.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aromaof dry bourbon caramel molasses and sweet dried dates. Pour is similar to root beer. Beige head that does not linger. Taste is overly sweet and hides much of the beer. Too sweet to be honest. Finish is malty sweet followed by a dry palate on the side.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
750mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of residual sugars, caramel, rye whiskey, and alcohol. Flavour brings out a huge profile, full of intense cloying sweetness, alcohol, caramel, and more intense sweetness. Fairly complex and cloyingly sweet - too much so. The booze isn’t that noticeable but the sweetness detracts. Decent, but way too sweet.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750mL bottle, big thanks to dcschiller for sharing this beauty of a barleywine, pours with a murky mahogany body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up musty sweet prunes and dates, molasses and brown sugar ending in firm booze notes. I’m not sure if these words convey it but the aroma is very inviting. The taste is rich smooth and musty notes with prunes and dates and figs that are covered with brown sugar. It runs quickly into smooth boozy whiskey barrel notes as it heads to midway. This is darn smooth and rich and yummy sipper, lovin’ the hell out of this.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
6/29/13. 750mL bottle thanks to hoffBRO! Drank during an epic BA barleywine tasting. Murky deep brown pour with a small khaki head. Boozy aroma hits first with rye, sweet vanilla and caramel, barrel, and actually a hint of some roastiness. Sweet flavor with more booze in there, a touch of metal, some roast, and lingering dark fruits and molasses. Not too shabby!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a hazy very dark brown with a yellowish brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is quite sweet with vanilla, toffee, caramel and sweet breads with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is similarly sweet with toffee and caramel with a bit of darker sweet bread and chocolate in the finish.
