Draft. Pours a nice orange/yellow with a nice white head. Fruity, juicy, orange in the nose. Medium mouthfeel. Nice blend of malt backbone and orange rind bitterness with some sweet fruit notes. Tasty.

Tap at brewery. Pours a nice dark orange with tons of hops on the aroma. Stronger/boozier than I expected based on aroma, nice hops with little malt. Definitely packed with hops but I like that.

Mild aromatics of pine needles, lemon peel and slight astringt notes. Pours nice and golden. Nice bitter punch in the face that lingers and mellows. Palate is full and thick. Overall, a little too bitter in flavor to be rated higher.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap at Muddy Waters. Apparently tap is better than bottle, per recent ratings. This is awesome - citrus hop, caramel, super rich - just killer.

(750ml bottle best by 2.24.2012 ) rich deep orange with sparse offwhite bubbles. Nose is rich and caramel like a barleywine, very little bitter citrus, candied citrus. Taste of rich caramel, fresh crushed grain, lightly bitter citrus, grapefruit linger without a bitter linger. Thick body, syrupy but I like it. Nicely balanced to be honest.

Bottle:   Deep amber, large frothy creamy head, nice lacing.   Resiny nose, slight candied citrus peel, a little tea leaf.   I can get a whif of alcohol as well.   Similar on the tongue, but seems a little oxidized or light struck.   Hides the 11% ABV really well.   Lingering pithiness, hoppy, slight candied citrus peel.   Not as heavy as I thought it would be.   Decent, but not too vibrant, but at least smoother than I expected.   Thanks for the bottle Bob!

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2012 Started with some nice fruit scents but fades quickly, taste is a lot of pine up front and finishes a little rough. Bottle shared by Ryan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

June 29, 2012 bottle via trade with Jeff. Brownish orange pour with minimal head. Aroma was piney hops, caramel and alcohol. Taste starts out caramel and then hits you with the piney hops. Medium bodied, little carbonation and aftertaste was not good.

Thanks to Bob for the 750mL bottle! Poured fiery reddish-orange with a creamy, well-retained beige head.. some lacing followed it down. The aroma picked up resiny orange, grapefruit, and peppery hops plus a little too much warm boozage over caramel and fruity notes.. came together well, and seemed somewhere between IIPA and barley wine. The flavor found warm fruits, caramel, and biscuity maltage at the core, with grapefruit, spicy pine, and earthy bitterness around.. alcohol amplified everything, and really warmed the throat and belly in the end.. like the nose, it was hot, but still good. Heavier-bodied with low-moderate, rolling carbonation on the palate.. big and spicy.. this was good, and could be interesting with more age on it.
