3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear amber/ruby color with a medium tan head...nice lacing and color. Fresh, floral aroma has earthy/spicy hops, tea notes, and subtle citrus...notable underlying toffee and butterscotch malt notes. Flavor is very bitter...a bit cloying...some spicy/earthy hops...mildly medicinal...very piney...toffee undertones. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is dry, earthy, and bitter.

A solid double IPA from the fellows at Steel Toe. Very drinkable. Sweet and hoppy with a richness that lingers for a long time in your mouth. Maybe too sweet and sticky for some folks, but I really like these characteristics. Looking forward to trying more from these guys - especially the stuff aging in barrels in the back of their brewery!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Rich, dark orange pour, lasting carbonation and a little head with a strong sweet hops. Flavor is strong juicy boozy hops, vanilla, oranges and very warming on the aftertaste. Super juicy and strong hop/booze bomb of a DIPA, but it was still extremely enjoyable!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from brewery (first limited release beer from Steel Toe). Pours clear dark red amber with a foamy soapy off white head that fades to a spotty film and signs of lacing. Aroma is bright floral and fruity resinous hops with a solid nose of caramel malt and light spice. Taste is bitter and resinous from the hops and I get pine, grapefruit and pepper with a solid malty caramel and a warming finish from the alcohol. Palate is full and sticky with a warming dry finish. Honestly had no expectations of this one and it is a solid brew. I could see this possibly aging in a good way with some time.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL bottle pours a bright clear amber with a medium khaki head. Aroma of citrus, hop spice, pine, and caramel malts. Pretty big bite of hop spice bitterness and alcohol but balanced nicely, citrus, caramel malts, some tartness, and resinous pine. Pretty enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle shared with atom. Clear, bronze color with a small semi off white head. Quite nice looking. A nice bit of head remains after a couple of minutes. Sweeter aroma. Ballsy amounts of caramel, graham cracker, some tropical fruit starbursts, and a touch of grapefruit. Some candy sugar thing going on with this. Taste starts with a punch of watermelon, cantaloupe, and then the caramel and booze hit. Finish has some cantaloupe and loads of burning. Pretty full bodied, and I wish the booziness would settle down. Maybe other will like this more, but I’m not really liking this that much.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled on draught at the brewery in St Louis Park, MN. Pours a clear bright copper orange colored brew with a thick beige head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, tart apple, caramel and toffee malt, a hint of spice and some light raisin. Taste is full bodied, soft carbonation with excellent balanced flavors of grapefruit, tart apple, caramel malt, some light toffee and a hint of alcohol. Finish is quite smooth and semi-sweet with a medium hop bitterness followed by some light raisin, tart apple and caramel malt aftertaste. The extra caramel body hides most of the higher alcohol and not overly hopped so that you can not appreciate the caramel malt flavor. A terrific double IPA sipper. Allow this one to age a year and this double IPA will develop a barley wine profile with some citrus hop flavors. Excellent first special release from Steel Toe and well worth the trip.
