While the size of the boot might be a bit small, the intensity of the hop flavor and aroma in Size 7 more than makes up for it. We take prodigious amounts of hops and add them any chance we get to this Northwest style IPA. If you ever call Size 7 balanced we’ll kick you where it hurts (in the hop sack).

From a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is very hop forward with a ton of grapefruit and some lighter pine. Light caramel malt and medium light pale malt. Some other citrus notes and a bit of dank resin. Pours a very clear copper orange with a good sized, fairly thick head that exhibits really nice retention and lacing as it slowly recedes. This might be the most clear IPA I have ever had. Medium small legs. Flavor is assertively hoppy with a nice grapefruit and pine character and quite a high bitterness. Some light pale malt notes with medium light caramel. I don’t normally like caramel malt in my IPAs, but it works when the hop character is so grapefruit and pine forward. Hints of alcohol in the finish. Some lingering bitterness, pine and grapefruit with hints of caramel. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice IPA in the more classic West Coast style, but not like the more modern, dry, fruity versions. Easy drinking and well made.

Bomber. Chewy orange fruit nose. Flavor is much stickier though with lots of pine and resin. Finish is pretty sweet with pine and resin again. Pretty aggressive.

Keg @ Happy Gnome. Light amber pour with a modest white head. Slightly hot caramel and tropical fruit salad. This ain’t no session IPA. Citrus, honey. Some booziness. Taste is pretty well balanced. Chewy caramel malt, slight booze. Strong pine and tropical melon fruits. Singed grass bitterness. Medium body, soft carb. Solid.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter glass darkest amber orange with a 2 inch white head. Aroma is grassy straw. Flavor was at first rather mild for an exclaimed bold IPA. As it warmed the strength increased with a lemony grass bang. Finish is bitter with more than expected sweetness. Carbonated very well with a medium body to the tongue. Won’t go out of my way to purchase again but if offered to consume at a bottle share---yes.

Bomber from Surdyks, brought by and shared with Eric. Very exciting! Pours a clear, golden orange with an off-white head leaving some spotty lacing. Aroma has pine, citrus and biscuity malts. Taste is of sweet fruit, some pine and citrus with some resin and sweet malts. Medium-bodied with little alcohol presence. Finishes more sweet than bitter, but fairly balanced. Solid and tasty. 13.8

Amber gold pour with a white head. Well carbonated. Aroma of pine with slight citrus and sweet malts. Taste is more of the same. Nice bitterness. Finish slightly lingers otherwise it is clean. Medium light body that fits well.

Draft at the brewery. Label this a "standard" American IPA. The aroma is a bit caged. The beer drinks with a decent malt backbone and a fairly normal balance. Clean, well made, but a tad uninteresting, yet still good, IMHO. (#5656, 8/28/2014)
